After we checked in we informed the front desk another family was joining us and they were about 30/45 minutes behind us.
The kids from both my family and the other family didn't know eachother were there it was supposed to be a surprise the next day.
We got to the room and it was only made for 3 sleepers not 4 as needed so my husband asked at the desk and the man came to our room with spare bedding for the pull out bed. My husband then locked the door and we went to sleep.
At 11:40pm we were woken up to the door being unlocked and the same guy from the front desk opening the door and saying "oh the electric card is already in" and for the other family who were with us who were under the impression that room was empty. So there I am in my top and knickers, barely awake, trying to figure out what the duck is going on. Lucky the other family was my sister and not some stranger but that is not the point at all. Suprise spoilt for my nephew.
Barely an apology from the man at the desk at the time "sorry" was about as much as he could say to us, and tbh it felt more directed at my sister than me who is stood not knowing why my room is being broken into at nearly midnight.
When checking out the next day the lady was really apologetic about it. But it wasn't her fault, she wasn't unlocking my door at nearly midnight. She told us they had no idea it had happened until my sister informed them as she checked out just before we did.
He knew we were in there. He came to the room with extra bedding. He gave us the key card to get in and the electric. There's no excuse for this.
It didn't feel safe and I barely slept because of it. My kids were in the room with us and it could have...
Read moreAir conditioned rooms in a "budget" hotel. Totally unheard of, but not just true as we stayed in a family room and the adjoining room with 2 single beds had its own AC. So we had one room cool and the other was a little warmer. This is not featured in the Hotels.com listing.||Anyway, back to the beginning. Booking was seamless with rooms at a great price for adults and even better for dogs each are charged £10 per stay and not per night as with all other hotels. Closer to the stay I received emailed updates for upgrades including £15 overnight EV charging. This to me was great value and turned out to be a guaranteed spot outside the hotel which is handy in cold January. Once accepted, another email to confirm the room was ready and then another to download a digital key! Yes the hotel were piloting a scheme of key/card-less rooms. Whilst this by-passes the checking-in process the staff were so nice and friendly that I did miss interacting with the staff.||As above the rooms have great tech following their refit. So big TVs in each room with Chromecast built-in but I didn't get to use. There is a McDonalds in the service area along with a Costa , Spa and Leon but they aren't open all the time. Deliveroo didn't deliver but Uber Eats did and Domino's from nearby Ellesmere Port which by the way was best Domino's I've ever had. ||This is a great hotel and I'll definitely be back as it is so central for Wrexham, Chester, Cheshire Oaks, Liverpool, Wirral and Manchester. It is comfortable, quiet, clean, dog friendly...

Check-in was a breeze thanks to the option to complete it online before arrival, which made the process both faster and easier. Everything was ready when I got there, and even the parking registration for my car was handled quickly.
My ground-floor room was clean, well-equipped, and relatively quiet. I say “relatively” not because of any outside noise — the windows are impressively soundproof, so you won’t hear a thing from the nearby motorway, service area, or gas station. The occasional noise comes from inside, as the motel-style layout means there are often families passing through.
This was my second stay, and I’d recommend requesting a room on the first floor. That way, you won’t have children running around above you — the hard flooring tends to carry footsteps from upstairs quite clearly.
The bathroom was spacious enough, but the toilet placement could be tricky for taller or broader guests. It’s positioned so close to the wall that you may need to sit at an angle, which can make the seat a bit uncomfortable.
On the plus side, the in-room Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. A highlight for me was the motel’s spicy pizza served at dinner — fresh, flavorful, and delicious. If that’s not your style, the service area next door has a Subway, a McDonald’s, and a few small shops for snacks and essentials.
Overall, a convenient and comfortable stopover with just a couple of things to keep in mind for the...
