The Bath Arms is in a picturesque village and is set within a beautiful countryside Inn.||My husband and I stayed at The Bath Arms to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary, and the staff made the visit exceptional. We were really taken care from the friendly and inclusive welcome, to having our room upgraded without us telling them we were celebrating our anniversary prior to the visit, to being able to have dinner whenever we wanted. There's more: we were given a complimentary glass of champagne when they found out why we were staying, the staff kept us in the loop during our meal - the red wine was in the cellar - were we ok if they warmed it by the fire first, we were also sat by the fire for dinner and the hostess kept in regular contact to see if the fire was still lit and that we had everything we needed, they let us take the unfinished wine up to our room after our meal. The staff were approachable, warm and witty and went out of their way to look after us.||The place had a relaxed but chic vibe and I dressed up for dinner and felt comfortable surrounded by more casually dressed people.||We stayed in Room 7 in the attic, and yes, it has very low doorway and a low ceiling but it added to the cozy vibes. You can hear other people moving around when you are in bed but it wasn't intrusive and they do provide ear plugs in the room.||Breakfast was just up my street - hot food options and continental. They also provide complimentary paracetamol for sore heads after one too many the night before which I found hilarious because it's very useful and I've not seen it at other places.||We had breakfast in the dining room - where we had dinner the night before but the vibe was completely different but still beautiful.||The only niggle is the chip are not good But all the other food was swoon worthy. Highly recommend The beef shin and veal!||Big cheer for the staff here. Other places could learn a...
Read moreVisited mid week with daughters after a relaxing day at the spa at Center Parc.|Having not been for a couple of years I was looking forward to taking my girls to this quirky venue.|How disappointed we were! |Not being overly hungry I ordered soup (leek and potato) and my daughters ordered a mushroom pasta dish and the other the veggie mushroom and feta burger. The service was quick though slightly confusing (2 waitresses and a separate server and the food order taken before the drinks)|The dishes arrived and my soup was stone cold, the mushroom and feta burger had no feta but the pasta dish was outstanding, hot, tasty and definitely homemade pasta. |The burger and soup were sent back and we waited .. and waited .. 25 minutes later the soup and burger returned.|The soup was hot but totally tasteless (I can’t describe how tasteless!) the homemade bread that accompanied it had no butter and was cold and dry. The burger was fine though my daughter said it was underwhelming and bland but perfectly edible. One of the waitresses came over to ask if all was ok and I told her the soup was watery and tasteless and I didn’t eat any of it - I told her to let chef know.|When the bill came it was £62 including 3 diet cokes .. no concession made for the cold inedible soup or delay.|I don’t complain to get a discount nor do I mind paying for good quality food but the whole experience was disappointing and expensive and we won’t be returning.|I would say this is part of a chain and I eat at the Beckford Bottle Shop regularly in Bath and it is always amazing and I have positively reviewed it in the past so this was a sad reflection...
Read moreWe did a 2 day standard package at Longleat and stayed at the Bath Arms. Longleat is a family favorite.
The rooms are just few, so summer time i recommend early booking. the hotel is very cozy, set in a heritage property. rooms are all on ground floor as can be seen from the picture, and are very comfortable. also for family if you book rooms side by side, then you get to sit out on a starry summers night and enjoy supper outside.
you can park your car at the hotel, and just walk to Longleat as many times. the main Longleat entrance is just 4 mins walk down. hotel staff is very personal and very friendly, as its a small hotel and never crowded.
also breakfast is very well done and I always like to book rooms with breakfast included. its more then worth the additional price. and unlike many commodity hotels, they offer a self service table with yogurt, coffee, toast, pastries, fruits, butter, jam etc, and additionally you can also order fresh food from a breakfast menu.
the bar outside is very rustic, relaxed and beautiful. ideal for a laid back evening after visit.
All in all one of our...
