The Old Dairy — Hotel in Great Britain

I am giving this a 3 star purely for the views and local village.

When we arrived after a 4 hour drive with dogs we were obviously very tired and just wanted to get into the barn. I hadnt received any email from the owner so immediately thought they were next door as were not informed about the key code in key safe outside . Then found out the owners lived in London! Thank goodness for the lovely neighbours as between them they managed to find out the number to get in! The next day the cleaner arrived and told me she had an email from the owner saying she had told me! She had Not! I had looked at all my folders on my phone and nothing. I also emailed her the next day and she didnt even reply to my email!!

My husband slept in the main bedroom and was comfortable , i slept in the 2nd bedroom and didnt sleep well as childrens mattresses and very thin! The kitchen was well equipped and the place was clean when we arrived! Beware of the flooring in the wet room as not proper shower tiles and slippery. There is a shower mat provided so make sure you use it! The hot tap can also get scalding hot so beware especially for children! Also if it is hot there are no small windows to open at night- you have to leave the big windows open.

The garden is the best feature with glorious views all round. However the fencing will need replacing soon as when you shut the gate the whole fence shakes like it is going to break soon! The lower garden also has a break in the wire. My beagle got out!

Thorncombe is a lovely village and a must to visit especially the village community shop run by the locals. They are so friendly and you can have a coffee and cake inside or out!

All in all i would visit Thorncombe again but unfortunately not...

Building work on site.Cob webbs all over the place.Hot water not hot enough to have a bath.Fence at back not high enough for a smallish sized dog not to jump over.Bathroom door hard to open and close.Needed a black out blind on bed room roof window.Curtains hard to close..Welcome packs left a lot to be desired. Stake gravy bones and no poo bags. Host not very friendly Attitude left a lot to be desired when help asked for . Couldn't park in designated parking space as a builders skip...

Warm and welcoming place, definitely would choose to stay here again! No reason to book anywhere else when you have all the comfort and everything you need here. Thank you for a pleasant stay! Location was breathtakingly...
