We ended up booking The Red Lion when we couldn't find a hotel nearer to where we were visiting for a family event.|It wasn't clear before our visit as to whether or not food, other than breakfast, was available. A phone call with Curtis however, confirmed we would be able to eat.|In the event we were offered a number of choices and our meals were freshly cooked for us. Furthermore, when on our second night we only wanted a lighter meal this was provided without any difficulty. |The decor in the bar/dining room was interesting and on our last morning we learnt that it was Curtis's handiwork. We were impressed. |There were some minor issues but I am sure these would have been corrected if we hadn't been able to resolve them ourselves. Our room was comfortable and clean with a modern en-suite shower room. |Curtis and Susie who own and run the establishment are wonderful hosts. We gathered that they are relatively new to The Red Lion and the property is very much work in progress. Don't let that put you off though as you...
Read moreQuite incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was out with my walking club and we finished our walks at a small town called Earlston. Which is in Scotland not too far from Melrose. There is an ice cream shop in Earlston and I bought a Malteser Sundae which was amazing but then - We went to the Red Lion🦁 even though they would not normally open on a Wednesday they opened specially for us. Not only that they said we could all sit outside in the sun. They allowed us to take seats and chairs outside they even brought 2 or 3 tables out for us. Also they brought some crisps outside and believe it or not some cheese and biscuits and guess what just to be really nice a couple of bowls of olives as well.
They were amazing people so friendly and courteous, they were just fantastic people absolutely brilliant a massive, massive thankyou to everyone at the Red Lion🦁 an amazing visit. Would love to return one day. Thankyou again from everyone at The Tyneside...
Read moreIncredible experience. I expected a standard run of the mill Inn.....The Red Lion exceeded all expectations. The room was stunning with loads of character and spotlessly clean. My partner and I only wish we could bring it home with us. The owners, (Curt and Suzie) were tremendous hosts. Very helpful in providing tips on where to visit and going out of their way to help us (e.g. helped when my car had a glitch, provided a dog bed, bowls etc). The breakfast is delicious and the dinner even better (especially the steak.) If they still have the Tempest IPA on tap, ask for it, one of the best IPAs I've had in some time. They were also great with my very excitable (and very large) young Golden Retriever! Stellar experience, can't wait to...
