At least it was only 1 night. Stayed here for work and the place itself was nice and clean, but the heat, wow. I walked into my room and both radiators were on so I turned them off. However the window would only open so far because of the safety wire and it was right on a very busy main road so the noise was bad. The room was so hot I had to keep the window open, but the road noise hardly easied, even at 3.50am the traffic was still flying past. Even the radiators in the hall are on full all the time, this place is just too hot. If you want somewhere comfortable and quiet, this is not the place.

We were staying at the establishment next door but after checking found their menu more interesting and the dining room much more relaxing. Had a delicious evening dinner so came back for breakfast, which was also good value in a nicer dining room. Don’t be put off by the old grey facade at the road junction end of the building. The building is newly renovated and entrance is at the opposite end of the carpark. Didn’t stay there but will next time, the rooms look really good! An interesting feature is the old well in the centre of the bar area floor) glass covered and spotlighted

A great place to stay. Very friendly and a good stop over en route to my next location. The bar area was very relaxing and I enjoyed a well earned beer with homemade soup for my evening meal Good tip , I stayed in the back of the accommodation, this way you avoid the busy A37 traffic whizzing past all night. The budget single room was perfect for my needs, the shower was hot, the bed comfy, cosy sheets, great beer, good food, and a very friendly barman with great staff in the morning

!!DONT IGNORE THE REVIEWS!!

Visiting bath and west so decided to look for nearby hotel/b&b and this place came up, after looking at their website we booked for 1 night, after many discussions we decided to try and book a second night to which they were very accommodating. On arrival the well inn did not resemble that of a pub that rented out rooms but more of a dilapidated house on the side of a busy A road under construction! THE ROOM: we booked a double room but received a small double (not mentioning anywhere). The room itself was very small, our window opened onto what must have been the kitchen which was very noisy till roughly 10:30pm each night. The bathroom was dirty, the extractor fan was broken probably due to the cobwebs stopping the blades from turning. The toilet was that close to the wall you had to sit on it sideways. THE BAR/RESTAURANT: the lad behind the bar and the young waitress were very welcoming. It was a Friday night and two out of three ciders were not available. And no ice available for soft drinks, and no cocktails like the website suggested. We decided to try the food here, but the menu resembled that of a supermarket cafe! Fish/chips, scampi/chips, ham/egg/chips , burger/chips…….. all served with peas. The website said a seasonal menu but I find that hard to believe. The tables were sticky and had what seemed like toast crumbs from breakfast on. We decided that after reading the website (which was quite good) that maybe this place was under new management that thought they can make a success on a budget. We decided to leave early and not stay the last night. * MY ADVICE WOULD BE ONLY STAY HERE IF YOU ARE...

Stay well away!!!!!!! Upon arrival we were allocated room 6, however upon entering the room it was obvious by the stink that someone had previously been smoking in there. Fortunately we were able to be moved to room 12... a much more spacious room - With a much smaller TV at the far end of the room!!! The room suffered from a lack of cleanliness throughout, mainly in the ensuite where there was mould & someone's hair still left in the shower. I then requested a gin & tonic from the bar, only for the barman to fill the glass with soda water from the spritzer, insisting that it was tonic..... We then went out to meet up with some old friends & then after a great night we returned back to the hotel at 10.30pm with the hope of grabbing a couple of drinks before last orders.... Only to find that the bar was shut... On a Saturday night!!! So we then went to bed listening to the HGV lorries trundle past the window all night.... The room was cold with two exterior walls & not once did the heating come on, even though the radiators were turned up to maximum. The next day I hoped that the hotel would redeem itself with breakfast..... At £95 for the night, I was looking forward to a great start to the day.... However my hopes were slashed once again as we were informed that only a continental breakfast was available..... This consisted of tinned, sliced ham complete with lashings of gelatine & fat, processed cheese, very stale mini croissants & still frozen & stuck together Tesco medium sliced bread.... Needless to say we didn't eat much..... This must be one of the ....... Nope THE worst place that I've ever had the...

Fantastic Staff and Food – Watch out for hotel booking!

We stayed for 3 nights here and it was a bit of a mixed bag. Starting with the negative; the hotel room was very small and the bed a small double when we believed we had booked a double. The booking websites do NOT make this clear. This meant my partner who is 6“4 was half hanging off the bed and even slept on the floor one night as that was more comfortable. The pillows were rock hard and the mattress was something left to be desired. The bathroom also had not been cleaned properly and there was even pubic hair left in the shower!! The hotel was fully booked which meant the option of a room change was not there. The heating in the hotel hallway was permanently on and made the room very hot and the window couldn't be opened due to the excessive traffic noise as this is right on the roadside.

However, the restaurant/Bar downstairs is lovely, the decor is beautifully done and the staff are WONDERFUL! We sat in the bar area every evening, Pauline the manager/bartender made our stay. She was very friendly, informative and welcoming. George our waiter was great and nothing was too much for him. Oh and Josh the chef, that pork belly was absolutely incredible, the cheeseboard is well worth the money and breakfast was a fantastic way to start the day.

All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant but would strongly advise you to check everything properly before you book a room. Once again thank-you to the team member mentioned above for making our stay lovely and (almost) making us forget about how bad...
