We stayed at Up On A Hill for a weekend stag party. I hadn't looked into the location beforehand and just packed what I thought I would need and jumped in the car, set the sat nav and headed off. It really is up a high and as I was driving up and up the bumpy lane I was cursing the best men for booking such a remote distant location. l arrived, followed the ample signage ano arrived at the parking for the glamping. As I walked into the glamping field my annoyance of the booking decision disappeared. The moment you turn the corner of The Retreat you are presented with most amazing view of the valleys leading to the Black Mountains. On the way I had pictured a rough campsite with no facilities that were brave enough to allow a stag group to stay. I was so wrong. I didn't need half of the items I had brought! Inside The Retreat, a fantastic communal area there is a fully functioning kitchen with two fridges, a freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. There are plenty of unused sockets for charging the items we need everyday now. A huge central table with enough room for all is us was where we did most of our eating and drinking. On the other side were ladies and gents facilities both with showers. There was a Chimnea and plenty of wood and charcoal to purchase if required. Outside was another three picnic benches and the three cabin are arranged in a line overlooking the valley with the shepherds hut at the end. The cabins were clean and well kept with chairs and a table outside each one. At the bottom of the hill is a fire pit which we made good use of. We had an amazing weekend in a beautiful location which felt more like a holiday than a stag...
Read moreI would highly really recommend Up on a Hill to anyone!! I organised my friend's hen do here and we had the place to ourselves! The view is spectacular. The retreat and bedrooms are immaculate and very tastefully decorated with lots of additional touches like blankets and fairy lights in the bedrooms. The bathroom facilities and kitchen facilities are great and had everything we needed. Lisa was an excellent host and was always very happy to answer any questions about anything before and during out stay. We used the BBQ, chiminea and fire pit during the weekend which added some extra fun to our stay. Thank you Lisa for a...

We were there to take part in Mission Adventure, a 4x4 weekend led by Nick, the owner (with is wife Lisa) of Up on a Hill. The cabins were clean, tidy and spacious and the kitchen area was a great place to meet before and after the daily trips out over the Welsh moorland. Nick and Lisa are fantastic hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for an amazing weekend away. We’ll be back in the summer for another weekend away driving under Nick’s...
