Overall a very good weekend getaway with a lot of positives and only a few negatives.

We stayed in the elder cabin which was lovely.

Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be visiting again in the near future!!!

Positives: We arrived and the park itself is stunning and very clean!! As expected the cabin was also spotless and was just the kind of cabin/lodge we wanted. The hot tub was what made us choose this park and it didn’t disappoint, although the weather wasn’t great, that didn’t stop us making the most out of the hot tub as we could. The Bedroom was a good size as-well as the bed itself, the wardrobe was also very spacious. There’s a nice little pub and the end of the road if couples are looking to go on a little walk and have a drink aswell. The country park itself is about 25mins from York city centre which is a good distance away if your looking to spend one of those days in York too!! Overall very good and the cabin had everything we needed.

Negatives!!

We are very picky and although their was negatives, they aren’t things that would stop us visiting again.

The shower was a-bit of a pain as it kept dipping from boiling hot to stone cold and even trying to adjust the boiler temp didn’t really make a difference which was slightly annoying!

The smoke alarm was way to sensitive also, we was frying some bacon on low heat and there was not much smoke at all, but just to be safe we opened the back door and put the extractor fan on full. This didn’t stop the alarm going off. The next day we made sure that we made even less smoke when frying bacon and even opened all windows aswell as the front and back windows, yet the alarm still went off. Slightly frustrating but we managed nonetheless.

Lastly there was loud neighbours on the first night who played music and shouting constantly until 2am which kept us up. The next day they was completely fine and so on for the rest of the holiday too!!

Overall this was a brilliant getaway which me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed and would 100% recommend to other couples looking for a...

Lilly cabin was absolutely beautiful, we really did enjoy our 3 night stay for a birthday celebration. The cabin was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub really made the stay for us, it was perfect for a relaxing few nights away together. Communication prior to our stay was great, especially as I only booked 2 days prior to arrival.

On arrival, we took our very well behaved spaniel for a walk on his lead around the public area and was met with a gentleman who straight away approached us demanding we keep our dog on a short lead as this is a private residential - we were not told this fact and were instead accused of letting our dog mess on his grass, baring in mind all we had done at this point is arrive and put our things in the lodge. Annoyingly during this conversation, a dog not on a lead approached ours, assuming this was a private residents dog - the man in question didn’t seem to have a problem with this. This did make us feel slightly unwelcome and that we couldn’t explore the park with our dog.

We did feel the £200 deposit was a little steep but understand the reasons. We also were under the impression the hot tub would be checked everyday but it wasn’t at all filled with anymore water during the stay.

We have no criticism at all regarding the lodge and thank you for a wonderful stay - just the few moans about the park in general. As a travel agent who does sell Hoseasons holidays, I would be happy to recommend Lilly lodge but would just gently raise the above points for anyone...

Me, my partner and our pooch had a long weekend at Cherry Cabin recently. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Upon arrival, we received an email with very clear instructions on what to do when we arrived, whilst there and departure. The cabin was clean and well presented. Complimentary tea towel, washing up liquid, dishwater tablets (we didn't have a dishwasher), sponge, tea, coffee and sugar in the kitchen and a soap bar in the bathroom. There were also 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels, iron and ironing board. We were not aware of these little extras in the kitchen and brought our own bits, but what a fabulous idea and touch. We also loved the added bonus of the hot tub, which was huge and a table and chairs too. I'd read on a review or 2 that the cabins were close together and overlooked, I don't think they were, well Cherry Cabin definitely wasn't. There was a big fence and gate around the yard area where the hot tub was, which meant we could let the pooch out into the area securely without the worry of her getting out and becoming loose. Left out is a helpful booklet with numbers that may be needed and also food/takeaway leaflets and leaflets of things to do close by. The only thing in regard to the cabin was that the flooring in the living space was very noisy and creaking everytime we walked on it and the pillows in the double bedroom were very flat after lying on them. Overall, a super stay at a great price, we've already discussed coming...

3 nights in Ivy Cottage Sept 2020. Would I recommend, yes. There is a 'but' although I'll start with the positives. Close to York, reasonably priced, has a hot tub, decent sized property (one bedroomed cabin). Dog friendly too. The downsides.....we arrived in the rain, followed all instructions but the key safe attached to the property wouldn't open, I'm short, we had been given the wrong code to access it so got soaked trying. Immediately noticed that the tiled cooker back splash was covered in grease, I didn't clean it but didn't use the cooker anyway. Most things you'd need are inside, washing up liquid, bin bags, toilet roll etc etc so you only need to bring towels although they do provide towels too. There isn't anywhere really to walk to, you have to drive. The entrance is on a 60mph road so watch out if you do walk over it. I took the dog for a walk but only just a very short toilet walk as there isn't really anywhere to walk to or any pavements. Not an issue if you don't have a dog.
