Just back from a fantastic stay at Walnut Farm Glamping! We were a family of three - two adults and one child.
All started with great communication from Nick including the day of arrival on how to get there and where to go on arrival at the site.
We stayed for four nights in the brand new Roundhouse, Hazel. The Yurt is spacious, with a kitchen attached which has an oven, hob, fridge freezer and plenty of storage and basic utensils. The bathroom is large, with a lovely shower and all towels provided. The beds are super comfortable and all the bed linen is provided.
The grounds are vast and so tranquil. Breakfast was eaten overlooking the swimming lake, with lots of wildlife to watch and plenty of space for our son to run around, safely. There’s a paddle boat on the lake which a lot of the guests enjoyed! The children enjoyed fishing in the swimming lake and found lots of wildlife while doing so!
Nick’s pizza night is a must - great homemade pizzas and brilliant company!
There’s a tennis court and football and we even had a Walnut Farm Olympics while we were there.
Nights were cosy around the log burner, with nothing more than the sound of the wildlife.
Plenty of places nearby to visit, West Bay, Lyme Regis and Charmouth to name a few.
We will certainly be returning and would definitely recommend it! Thank you Nick, Molly...
Read moreWe came to Walnut Farm with our two boys (6 and 3) in March of 2019, and we left wishing we had built in more time for our stay! The owners couldn't have been nicer or more thoughtful, and the setting is beautiful. My boys took off running for the hills - literally - once we got there, which was a great contrast after spending a few days cooped up in London.
The yurt itself was ideal: it's massive, and they had kept the wood-burning stove going all day before our arrival so it was nice and toasty when we got there. The bed was super comfy, and curling up in it with a book and that electric blanket on a chilly night was pretty much heaven to me. The shower was great, too - good water pressure and plenty of hot water. This is a great way to be outside and enjoy some nature time without, you know, actually camping. :)
The location is great: it's close to multiple points of interest, including Lyme Regis, where we took our junior paleontologists fossil hunting, and Durdle Door, which was gorgeous. Nearby restaurant and pub options were plentiful; we particularly enjoyed the Hive Cafe. There's also a pub just a short walk away; dinner there followed by beer or wine in the yurt is a pretty great way to spend the evening, as well.
Next time we come, we'll take them up on the hot tub and the...
Read moreI cannot recommend Walnut Farm highly enough. We stayed for a weekend at the beginning of July - my family of four in Skylark and my brother's family of four (and dog) in Russet. Great communication and information from Nick ahead of time, including directions, and throughout the weekend.
The yurts are fantastic and have everything you could possibly need, including electric blankets on the bed and fairy lights. The en suite bathroom makes this a very livable glamping experience! (As with most tents, bring a sleeping mask if the bright mornings will wake you up). The kitchen yurt was also great - we really didn't have to bring anything. Skylark has a woodburning hot tub, which we paid a little extra to have filled and heated before we arrived, then stoked up the fire again the next day with the wood provided (£40 really wasn't very much given how much we enjoyed it over the the weekend!)
The area is beautiful, as is Walnut Farm itself. The four boys between us (age 7-11) happily entertained themselves with the swing, the hammocks, the tennis court and around the wild swimming lake, where we also enjoyed a lovely swim. Relaxing in the hot tub under a starry night while the boys toasted marshmallows and told stories was absolutely idyllic. We'll...
