Liked: The Farm had everything you needed for a great stay, as 2 women travelling alone we felt very safe, Michael the owner was so helpful, we had an issue with our camperVan lights flashing every time we switched our engine on and he tried to get us sorted, if you don’t mind a short walk there is a very friendly pub not far away, the field pitches were nice and flat, a selection of camping fields to choose from, each pitch had a fire and you could purchase logs direct from the farm, we would have loved this site even more if there were electric hook up points but it didn’t spoil our stay at all, the showers and toilets were very rustic but kept very clean, you had access to a freezer and fridge if needed, the site was in a great location with all the attractions no more the 30 minutes away, we stayed here as we were going to the Bristol Baloon festival which did not disappoint, fish and chips at Chew Vally Lake was a real treat and the views while eating were amazing, a day in Bath city was perfect, unfortunately due to out lights issue we had to cut our trip short but we will be back one day, great site
Disliked: We didn’t dislike anything about this site, our only piece of advise would be to maybe add a couple more showers as we did have to queue a couple of mornings and the site wasn’t particularly busy when we stayed, and maybe a toilet waste point for those who have portable loos that need to be emptied but not really essential, maybe add an information board with a map of the site would also be helpful although Michael was around most of the...
Read moreJust spent 5 nights here. Mike could not do enough for you, brought an exceedingly generous wheelbarrow of logs to you, organised cleaning and stocking up of cleaner, loo roll in eco toilets [something different to experience!], all eco friendly stuff, sawdust flush, men pee on a bale of straw. Generates a laugh. Chicken racing at the weekends for kids, would be fund for adults too. Fabulous log tables, camp fires, place is clean, serence, a few moos moos nearby but not intrusive, noisy or smelly. Occasional aircraft at Bristol but not bothersome. Has two showers down the hill, two loos and a gents, phone charger in the loo, several fridges on the farm to store your food if you dont have one-heaps of space, perfect for singles, couples and families. Stunning landscape to get away from it all.
Regil has a lovely pub with great food reasonably priced, you can also bbq on site. Bring a sat nav or find winsford and its a straight road form there -single track in places adds to the fun. Visit chew lake, chew magna and villages as well as Stanton Drew Circle for solstice or indeed any other day. I stayed an extra night, didnt want to leave....
Read moreWalnut Tree Farm campsite is situated on an organic dairy farm in striking distance of Bristol, Bath and Cheddar Gorge.
We stayed for two nights and found the pitch fields small (in a quiet/good way), flat and very comfy with well maintained grass. Each pitch had a postage stamp of concrete and fire pit, and the owner can sort you out with a barrow load of wood at a good rate.
Compost toilets and showers like you've never experienced on a campsite. Clean, fresh, well constructed and discretely tucked away from site. This place really is great.
The owners of the farm are very friendly and approachable. We had no complaints and would happily stay again (probably will). The quietness of the site made for a really relaxing break and all facilities were clean, tidy and functioning.
Wifi?! Some reviews have mentioned the lack of it but personally I can't understand why you'd want it whilst camping. I couldn't even get a mobile signal and I LOVED it.
Well...
