We were the amongst the first guests to stay here post lockdown (w/c 13th July for 4 nights).
The site is exactly what you'd hope for (and exactly what we needed), off grid, in the middle of no where with views for days.
We were lucky enough to stay in the amazing yurt đ
Positives - The bed is soooo comfy and luxurious So cosy, especially when the log burner is lit Pretty much everything you need is provided, even milk, tea and fresh coffee Spotlessly clean on arrival Watching the stars from bed through the glass ceiling is something I'll never forget!
Negatives - The yurt is the first camping spot after the car park, meaning you will get people walking past. There was a large family staying in the cabin down the path from us that walked past our yurt literally every 10 minutes, all day, and into the night. We eventually figured out they were taking it in turns to use the staff toilet that flushed in the car park That same family were using our "private" shower. The shower for the yurt is up the path in the carpark and is supposed to be for our exclusive use, however no lock on the door meant other families were using it also. A simple lock with a key that could go with the yurt key could easily resolve this issue A little path from the Yurt to the toilet would be great and stop it getting muddy when raining Check in is rather late (4pm), and check out is rather early (10am)
Things you need to know / tips - There is NO electricity at all on site There are towels provided (which wasn't on the list we were emailed meaning we packed towels, taking up valuable room as we travelled on a motorbike) Take a tea towel as there isn't one provided If you're staying in July, take mosquito & fly spray, they are relentless! Take an eye mask if you're staying in the summer. It gets light very early Follow them on Instagram, the recommendations for local shops / eats are spot on Red Indigo (local Indian takeaway) deliver to the site and is so delicious
I definitely recommend this place if you're after a fully off grid experience with...
Read moreThe Yurt we stayed in (Barley) was large, clean, tidy with a well fitting and lockable door. The bed was very comfortable. Two single beds also available for children if required.||The see through part of the top of the yurt was rather dirty on the outside. Detritus from the nearby trees I suspect. ||There were three yurts and two cabins on site, all positioned well away from each other giving privacy. All unoccupied during the three nights we were there.||The yurts were positioned adjacent to a field of barley with trees behind them and a nearby stream. Very quiet and peaceful.||The kitchen cabin was adequate, although the doors were badly fitting. The small chest fridge was more of a freezer as everything except to wine froze. The lid didnât fit properly and needed weighing down.||The composting toilet was adequate but took some getting use to. Fortunately, there was a normal flushing loo with hand basin at the green barn near the car parking area. We didnât use the shower adjacent to the yurt as there was a bigger one with hand basin and space to move around at the barn. Bit of a walk though, but that was our choice.||The paths leading to the yurts/cabins passed around and under trees. Clearly in recent high winds, twigs and small branches had fallen onto and around the paths. They really should have been cleared away prior to our arrival as theyâre been there several days. Some of the trees and shrubs around the yurts needed cutting back as they were a bit overgrown in places. The grounds really did need some TLC, bearing in mind the school holidays commenced at the end of the week.||Contactless checking in and out went well and all communication carried out by email.||The local pub was closed during the duration of our stay. However, The Harp in Glaspury, and The Bridge End in Talgarth were excellent and dog friendly.||Overall a very...
Read moreThe perfect introduction to Glamping! This was my first time Glamping after years and years of camping as a child. Wye Glamping is situated in a beautifully quiet and very secluded spot just 10min drive outside of Hay on Wye. Surrounded by rolling hills and open fields next to a âbabbling brookâ, the location is perfect to chill out. We stayed in Holly, one of two wooden Glamping huts. It comes perfectly equipped with all you could need, the inside of Holly is lovely with a wood burning fire for the chillier nights. We didnât need it as the weather was lovely and warm. There are USB A (not C) for charging a phone or tablet as well as a wired in radio. You have an outside kitchen contained in a similar wooden hut, along with a fire pit, and complimentary wooden logs. The kitchen has a gas stove, sink with running water and all the bits you could need to rustle up a dinner. We also had a swing and picnic bench with two deckchairs and two fold out camping style chairs. For ablutions you have a composting toilet, in another wooden hut in your camp area, and then about 75 yards up the path your own shower unit and a plumbed in toilet next to it. The host Diane, provides wheelbarrows to cart all your stuff from the car down the gravel paths to your hut.
Sitting out in the evening, toasting marshmallows over the fire pit, under a sky full of stars, listening to the tawny owls, whilst watching the bats fly acrobat displays over our heads was magical.
There is loads to do in the area, from visiting the local villages for excellent breakfastsâŚ..a big nod here to Trigg at the Mill in Talgarth. To endless walks in the Brecon Beacons or down on the pebble beaches on the river Wye, it really is worth a visit. And without doubt definitely worth staying at...
