Another fantastic stay (our 3rd) at this site and well deserved of its 5 star status, as my husband said "it's like a bottle of wine, the older it is the better it gets", Andrew (the owner) has improved this site year on year to ensure your stay is as relaxing and peaceful as customers that book a pitch here are looking for. A number of reviewers have complained about noise from the road, lack of signage, nothing on the site, an understocked lake and cleanliness of the facilities not to standard, well all I can say is nothing will please you and your best bet is to book a hotel During our stay the toilets/showers were cleaned at the same each morning and the wardens checked them regularly and as its an adults only site there was hardly any mess but it would help if people cleaned up after themselves and not left it for the cleaner to do, it is a very popular site and was full when we arrived and 3/4 full during our stay and again started to fill up for the weekend as we left, so the cleanliness of the site is marvellous considering the volume of traffic through the door. Their is a site map on the web page so a bit of homework on pitch choice would be beneficial although I can say we have never had any issue with noise during our stays No shop on site is not an issue as their is a 24 hour Asda 10 mins away and a Toby Carvery 5 mins away You can walk into York from the site and although there is no footpath to begin with there is grass verges and not too much traffic, we walked in and it is a lovely walk and just strolling along took us 50 mins, as people say you can also get a bus outside the Park and it's £3 return although if you do want to drive into York I recommend you use Fossbank car park which is £1 per hour Once again well done to Andrew and all his staff your efforts are much appreciated and it makes our visit exactly what we needed peace and...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the caravan park for 2 nights, 3 days. We found all of the staff to be extremely polite and helpful. The site itself was immaculately manicured with attention to detail second to none. I can honestly say that it was the cleanest and best site that we have ever visited. The individual van bays were more than generous and provided ample room for outdoor equipment. Each were individually separated by hedgerows, none of which blocked the views. We were parked across from the lake and enjoyed been continuosly entertained by the ambundance of wildlife, including the resident ducks and their ducklings, not to mention the fishermen. On day one we took a bus ride into York which was an approximate 10-15 minute journey. Both the journey to and the return bus stops are literally just outside the park gates they came every half hour which was brilliant. It was approx £3.70 for a return ticket which would be at least a third of the price if you had to take your van/car and pay for parking in York itself. Although everything was fab at the campsite I think the thing that really blew me away was the fantastic shower and toilet facilities. The showers and toilets were in individual rooms, and I mean rooms! I absolutely loved the space and freedom that they offered. They were all immaculate! We have already booked a return trip for longer in the summer and neither of us can wait to return. It truly was a lovely peaceful break! We would definitely...
Read moreThe reviews are an absolute joke. I don’t know where these people have been staying before but to give this place a 5 start review is unbelievable and totally inaccurate. You arrive and are faced with a dilapidated farm building. The site looks like an old farm with pitches of gravel separated by small hedges. The place is poorly maintained and has poor lighting which is dangerous at night .There is an outdated shower block and that’s where the facilities end. The site claims to have internet which is almost non Existent ! We couldn’t even get anything on tv unless you like watching the timer turning around . It could be due to the fact that we were pitching under an electricity pylon which was radiating a loud buzzing sound which sounded like a swarm of bees . It’s like camping in a field and that’s unacceptable considering the cost of the stay which At £44 per night it’s higher than surrounding sites and fails miserably in comparison. we only booked based on the reviews but Needless to say we will definitely not return ! There is a smal allowance for electric in the price and we ran out during the second night of our stay. There was no way of contacting anyone and no warden on site . Totally unprofessional. It’s an old farm playing at being a touring site . Not...
