We are just checking out today of the Four Seasons Hampshire after 3 nights and 4 days at the property. We had a WONDERFUL time - it was eight of us total, 3 children (ages 5/9/13) and 5 adults.

We had a total of 4 rooms - all perfect and absolutely beautiful, classic FSH.

The property is just perfect, vast and beautiful and incredibly maintained.

Activity Review

Horseback riding - 9/10 - the facility and staff are wonderful and the ride for non experienced riders is 30 minutes around the equestrian facility. Only reason I wouldn’t give it a 10/10 is there is zero time to ride alone at all without an assessment.

Bird Experience/ Falcon Experience- 100/10 truly the best thing we’ve done all trip and we came from the FSH George V in Paris - Me. Wilson who runs the bird encounter is INCREDIBLE and so kind and knowledgeable and the birds are beyond fascinating. Even if you don’t like birds, or don’t care about this experience, do it anyways!

Carriage Ride - 8/10 - we did two carriage rides through the property and they were great and lovely but kind of just boring, they folks who do it are amazing but it would be a great experience if this could have been longer and paired with a picnic or something (of course for an extra charge)

Canal Boat Tour - 3/10 this one was a bust - the man who runs the boat is very nice but the boat just basically floats along the river at under 10mph with nothing to see. You then are dropped off in town for lunch at the Red Lion, or so we thought dropped off. You are taken to a drop off point and the restaurant is a 20 minute walk. The restaurant itself is fine but nothing worth the walk and with children or elderly this may not be for you.

Axe Throwing / Archery - 10/10 we loved this! The guy running it is wonderful and even though there is an age minimum, he had kids soft throwing axes for our 5 year old. Was wonderful!

Fly Fishing - 10/10 wonderful experience, we fly fish quite a bit so didn’t need the lesson but caught 3 trout - great time! Guide was so kind!

Clay Shooting - 10/10 another great activity, we shoot quite a bit so didn’t need the lesson but a wonderful time and the staff was great.

Amenity Review

Kid’s Playground - 10/10 fabulous little playground, other children were always there so always fun!

Kid’s Club - 9/10 wonderful kids club to drop kiddos off at during the day if you chose. Only downside is a 2 hour max time limit which makes it tough if you are doing multiple activities that small children cannot attend

Kid’s Pool - a great time, children loved it, always a lot of other kiddos around

Adult Pool - beautiful and well appointed

Spa - great services! Massages for 4 guests and everyone loved them

Wild Carrot Restaurant - great selections for a 3 meals of the day, wonderful staff

Pizza Pop Up - really delicious! Should keep this forever.

Afternoon Tea - a must! Delicious

Complaints

The hotel is in need of a refresh - not a remodel but a good refresh - the rooms do not need this at all as they are recently remodeled and spectacular. The spa desperately needs an upgrade - the services are wonderful and so on brand of a FSH but the facilities need life breathed into them, as does the kids pool. The restaurants looks great until you look up, ceilings etc need to be re done. None of these affect your stay in any way but for the price and the fact that it’s a Four Seasons Hotel, it needs to keep up with the FSH look and brand.

Only thing we all as a group wish the hotel offered was some sort of evening activity for families / everyone. Didn’t need to be some big thing, even a star gazing program, optional outdoor movie, night swimming with programming for children. We would have absolutely paid for this if it would have been offered.

In all, we WILL be back - it was a FABULOUS stay and the staff is...

Four Seasons Hotel||I stayed at hotel last night room 1104 to celebrate my wife’s 60th Birthday and our 40th wedding anniversary beautiful room ||We normally stay at Limewood, Chewton Glenn or Newt as they are similar high end hotels and selected Four Seasons to try something new. ||We were looking for a high end fine dining experience with professional kitchen and professional sommelier and waiting staff but this was not our experience||We arrived at hotel and checked into a beautiful room upgraded with great reception.||We went to The Wild Carrot for lunch unfortunately this was a massive dissatisfaction and disappointing experience ||I spoke to front of house requesting a quiet table away from children.||Table by window was next to large family group taking selfies by our table we waited patiently for them to finally stop and sit down.||I ordered Chablis white wine and especially requested from waiter I wanted wine well chilled before serving.||I ordered ceasar salad and my wife ordered prawn cocktail which was very basic and forgettable , however anchovies to go on a Caesar salad were extra which is a stable part of this salad ? ||The Wine was served at room temperature so asked them to leave it in ice bucket despite asking for it to be chilled before serving.||Two other families arrived with kids screeching quite loudly excited as also there friends turned up making things louder. ||A guy kept walking up and down past our table on a business call talking very loudly about a business transaction I had no idea why he would just not go outside. ||There was no appearance of any restaurant manager suggesting to diners this is a high end dining experience.||Main course we ordered Rigatoni which had no flavour we did not eat it, and Mushrooms on toast with beef. On menu Mushroom dish had no detail that Truffle was in dish, unfortunately the taste of this makes me feel unwell.||I took a mouthful and tasted truffle I asked waiter for menu and upon reading it I asked waiter if Truffle was in dish he said he did not know and would ask chef. He came back to confirm it was in dish. ||A nice lady came up to me and apologised and offered me something else. The taste of truffle had made me feel queasy so I declined it was still very loud in restaurant so we took wine and sat outside ||On reflection staff at restaurant had no knowledge of wine or food they were serving. The food served was basic at best and to serve a dish with Truffle in dish without it on the menu is a big mistake from the chef. Truffle is a very powerful taste and for me overwhelming and unpleasant so needs to be described on any dish. ||We had a reservation at La Terressa I walked down to see large volumes of children very loud in this restaurant so it was not for us. The menu was mainly Pizza and this is not fine dining it was like a Pizza Express inside restaurant ||We were going to go to local restaurant but as I drank wine could not drive so finally ended up we with room service. This was not experience I had visioned for our special celebration.||My wife and I did not experience any fine dining very disappointing.||Fully understand it is summer holidays and families go on holiday. ||The Four Seasons Restaurant is very large very easy to create an adult space in this area. ||More concerning is our lunch food offer was far from a fine dining experience it was terrible. ||Service very nice but lacking any knowledge of food or beverage experience in fine dining.||We requested a table away from children and was put in the hub of children’s birthday parties and excitable children having fun which is not a fine dining experience. ||Breakfast in room ordered streaky bacon got back bacon no...

The property, about 45 minutes’ drive from Heathrow, is well established as a premium country resort hotel. ||Whilst it is classic Four Seasons children friendly, it has, in recent years, endeavoured to ensure that couples can also appreciate the property by having an adult friendly mindset as well. ||Rooms||The rooms have been refurbished over the years with a countryside friendly, pastel, rich colour tones, blended with the original lighter Four Seasons colours.||The marble bathrooms remain in their original format, but well maintained with standalone showers. ||USB Technology exists to cover most mainstream needs with a robust wi-fi.||All rooms have Nespresso coffee machines, and the more modern US versions in the suites. ||Rooms throughout the property in the main and side wings, most having good views of the countryside or inner courtyard. ||The management try hard to ensure that the families are located in one particular segment of the property so that other rooms are quieter for couples. ||Facilities||As a resort property, there are extensive facilities, which are highlighted on the website. ||A positive improvement is the creation, a few years ago, of a separate children’s pool area, which allows for the main pool being accessible for adults.||The Spa is quite extensive, but now in need of a little renovation and upgrading. That being said, the treatments are superb and the team experienced.||Restaurants||There is an array of restaurants catering for different tastes and, at busy times, for the family. The main restaurant quality of food has improved materially and is of a very high standard for a resort hotel. ||Breakfast is a buffet with an extensive array of choices, but it is worth arriving early if you wish to have a relaxed experience.||At peak times, they also use the smaller Spa restaurant (Santé) for breakfast to allow a calmer experience. ||Service||Our stay coincided with a slightly quiet period, albeit that the team explained that the property is usually quite full at weekends with families; and one tip, if you are able to visit during the week, there is a higher chance that the property will be quieter and slightly less frenetic at peak times.||The service itself was superb, every team member having the Four Seasons touch and attention to detail. No request was too small and it was absolutely clear that the Four Seasons training and professionalism was lived and breathed throughout the hotel.||We have already booked our return visit.||This is a property for those people who live in and around the area, where you could travel throughout the year and enjoy the countryside, but also the hotel’s facilities. ||The activities available to guests are extensive before you even consider getting in to a car and travelling to many of the local attractions.||Well done the Four Seasons, Hampshire – we look forward...
