Bay Tree Cottage — Hotel in Ireland

I love when my expectations are exceeded and they were on every level during our recent break at Bay Tree cottage. We had a wonderful warm welcome from Susan (and scones) and the house is just gorgeous. As the reviews say - it was spotless with everything you could ever need on a self catering break and then some. Susan has impeccable taste and this shows in the interior decor, the quality of the linens, and the attention to detail throughout. It was such a warm cosy house to come back to after sightseeing or shopping in the area - there was so much to do four days wasn’t enough! Hillsborough is a beautiful village, with lots of nice places to eat and everyone is so friendly! We booked the breakfast hamper each morning and it was like Christmas waiting to see what daily treats would be inside. This is my second time staying at the Bay Tree Cottage. It is by far the nicest accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. As many others have said, I could not recommend it more highly. ||Here are a few of the highlights: immaculately clean, thoughtful interior design, an outdoor seating area with wonderful views (we particularly enjoyed watching the cows graze in the field across the road), extremely hospitable hosts, cozy bedding, a full suite of appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, teapot, kettle, microwave, fridge etc.) and, of course, Susan’s homemade lemon drizzle cake. ||There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area between Hillsborough Castle & Gardens, the Giant’s Causeway, Belfast etc. It’s a very convenient location, with numerous supermarkets and restaurants just a short drive away. ||The Bay Tree Cottage is a true gem. My wife and I stayed for one night at “Bay Tree Boutique b&b “ . It was absolutely delightful from the moment we arrived ...tea/coffee scones cake were all on offer . There is a well equipped kitchen for guests to use. The bedroom was exceedingly well appointed , and the capacious bed, one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in . The breakfast was as good as - and arguably better than - we have experienced at 4star hotels , and all freshly cooked. Susan is a lovely lady and a fine hostess. The weather was not good that morning, and I had come without a coat . However , Willy our host, very kindly offered me the loan of a waterproof for the day . All in all a perfect stay .
