The room was really noisy. You could hear when guests in other rooms flushed toilets throughout the night, and when other guests left extractor fans on...all night.
We stayed in a triple room with a double bed, single bed and travel cot. The mattress in the single bed really sagged, if you moved slightly at all throughout the night, the headboard hit off the wall - waking other guests in the room. When I told the owner about this, her reply was ‘no one else has complained about this’.
Travel cot: I had tried to contact the owners before our stay to ask if we needed to bring a mattress topper for the travel cot. Either the number available on their website is not correct, or else we simply didn’t receive a reply. Regardless, we did take our own mattress topper But we were told that there was no sheets or blankets available for the cot, and that they were at ‘full capacity’ so could not offer us anything. I was so glad that we had brought our own mattress topper as the mattress on their travel cot was really stained. I pointed this out to the owner and she refused to accept that it was dirty, and that she had just cleaned it. She also said she couldn't provide sheets or blankets for the travel cot for hygiene reasons. That’s the first time I’ve heard that?!
The pillows on the double bed were stained, and only had one pillow case on so the stains...

We just got back home from a 3 week vacation touring around Ireland!! This was a bucket list trip and it did not disappoint!! We stayed two nights at Carnately Lodge and it was honestly one of our favourite stops in Ireland.
The place is spotless, the beds are comfy, breakfast was chef’s kiss, and Natasha is just the best. She was so welcoming and helpful — and very patient with us, even when we ignored her very reasonable advice and walked the 1.3 km back from town in the pouring rain. (To be fair, we thought we were being adventurous… we were actually just soaked and slightly terrified.)Yes there are cabs available and Natasha will call one for you!! 🤣
The lodge is just outside of town — a quick drive, or a dangerous-but-memorable walk if you’re feeling brave/stubborn like us. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and has that perfect cozy B&B charm that makes you feel right at home.
We’d absolutely stay again. Natasha went above and beyond in ways we’ll never admit publicly 😉, and we left feeling like we’d stayed with family — the kind that feeds you well and gives excellent travel tips.
