An oasis of old world charm in unassuming Ballinamore outside Ballymoney. This rambling cottage is totally charming and huge. There were 10 of us, but it could easily have held 20. Brilliant drawing rooms to sit in (complete with grand piano for a sing along), a fantastic well equipped kitchen ( it used to have a restaurant) and plenty of loos (even if we couldn't find the lights for the one near the kitchen until the eve of our departure.) The wall panels in the front hall tell the fascinating history of the place. The garden is really a series of glades intersperced with thickets leading down to the old mill. What a marvel it would be for children in summertime! Heating seemed good though to be fair it wasn't that cold for early October outside. Our bathroom was good with a power shower which I imagine worked well if you were more familiar with power shower controls, which I wasn't. It was fun trying to work it out anyway. This place is well worth the money if you have a...
Read moreHarmony hill has been a much loved family home. It is not state of the art, it is far from modern, it needs a lot of work to make things right. What it does have is character, comfort, space and lots of it. It has crumbling walls, damp patches but this building dates back to the 1700’s and all this adds character to the place. Lots of outside space with places to explore in the grounds. Particularly loved the sounds of wildlife outside. Surprisingly warm, and as much wood for the log burner or open fires that you need. Bedrooms so spacious with large comfortable beds. Loved the bar area and the kitchen was huge with as much utensils as you could ever think to find. A car is needed to explore the area with lots of points of interest within a 30 min drive of the place. If you are looking for a modern home then this is not for you, we wanted a family friendly pet property and we got this with so much more to offer. I would certainly recommend it and would not...
Read moreWell worth a stay. We were travelling around the NI coast visiting some of the Game of Thrones filming locations and it was a great spot on the road to stop, unwind, and enjoy an excellent meal. 20 minutes to Dark Hedges and Portsteward and Portrush. Wifi is good and parking is good. There is a nice dining room with a stove and a small bar. Beers are available in cans and spirits and a good wine list also available. Food is top notch. there is a fireplace in the room that you are free to light. It was a warm night so we didn't but there wasn't matches if we had wanted to! But I'm sure these are provided as the hosts are lovely people and very friendly. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked. We will be back here...
