Stayed in the hobbit house which in itself was a great concept but this was let down by the poor customer service and potential health and safety risks. Firstly upon arrival we were greeted and given a quick tour of the place and our accomodation but as nice as the girl was, there was little to no explanation about the facilities or what they offer. Additionally we noticed that the surrounding area was a bit of a mucky mess, the photos on the website really do oversell what you are actually greeted with and for the price you pay you'd expect a more professional and appealing surrounding. Furthermore, the main issue was with the customer service. The hobbit house is heated only by a stove fire which unfortunately burned out on us as we went to the garage which understandably was our mistake however we went to reception to find nobody there and then phoned a number to ask for some firelighters to which we were told to wait 10-15 minutes on someone coming up to light the fire. Given the house was freezing we sat in the hot tub and waited 1 hour before we had to text the number and ask whether anyone was actually going to come and help with the fire to which we got no reply for another 45 mins however someone had called 15 minutes after the text to help us and they didn't even offer an apology for the 1 hour and 15 minute wait. On top of this, I would definitely not recommend bringing kids to this venue due to a numerous amount of health and safety hazards. The radiators in the toilet/shower area are extremely hot and I found myself getting a burn from leaning on the radiator by accident for not even a second. Other risks include screws sticking out of the walls and doors in our house as well as very slippy wooden beams along the walkways and the area around the animals was obstructed and a bit of a mess. Also, we were woken by the sound of water dripping in from the roof of the house as the area around the chimney of our stove was leaking quite heavily. Finally, we paid extra for rose petals on the bed and did not get this and also got no slippers or ties with the robes. Although these are quite minor issues, you would expect them to be resolved for not only the price but also because of how they advertise this place on their website. We would not be looking to return to this place in the future and would definitely not recommend it until they resolve the major customer service issues. Only positive of the experience was the great views of the mountains.

Unfortunately, the only way to descibe our much anticipated stay at Mountain View lodges(MVL) was sorely dissapointing. The shock and utter audacity of an email from MVL requesting that self tan must not be worn two days prior to our stay was the first disapointment. This is information that if shared prior to booking would have had an impact on us actually deciding to stay or not. It very much felt like an attempt to alter a persons identity. Not to mention the feeling of being in school when they state that fake tan wearing will be checked upon arrival and the customer will be asked to remove it. Having stayed in some of the top hotels and settings in NI, it is a first this request has ever been made to us. However, getting over the initial shock and accepting the fact that it is MVL rules we arrived on 29/07/23. Following the email, we expected a spotless setting that reflected the rules. To our disgust, sadly, this was not the case. The pod was vile! We are not sure when last it had been cleaned. The standard was completly shocking! We fully appreciate that the lodges are in the countryside and there is an element of cobwebs etc to be expected but what we experienced was nothing short of negligence and disgusting. An antibacterial wipe/spray is not too much to ask and definately would make for a much healthier and cleaner stay to reflect the pricing. The step into the hot tub is completly rotted wood and collapsed as I climed in causing ankle pain. This requires urgent attention before a customer is seriously hurt. There is no doubt the views are stunning so it was very much a case of having to make the best of the very disappointing situation. The following morning was yet again, another dissapoinment when we both realised the showers were running freezing cold water. Our initial plan was to stay in quite a few of the lodges over time but it is safe to say, unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Sadly, we would not reccomend.

Absolutely Dreadful Stay - Avoid at All Costs!

Our recent stay at this resort was an absolute nightmare from start to finish, and I feel completely misled as none of the significant issues were disclosed during booking. This was by far the worst accommodation experience I've ever had.

Let's start with the most shocking detail: the toilet was located outside our room and was shared with other guests. The owner lied about this being advertised, and when we raised the issue, he had the audacity to say, "for the price for the stay we're lucky to be getting what we get" and "I put £800k in it you're lucky to be paying that price."

Inside the room, the problems continued. The chairs were broken with wobbly legs, making them unusable and unsafe. The mattress was incredibly springy and uncomfortable and the bedside cabinet literally had burn marks, the paint was peeling and it was falling apart.

The "private" hot tub was anything but, offering absolutely no privacy whatsoever. To top it off, the showers had dirty towels left in them upon arrival, and there was no sanitary bin in the bathroom, despite the owner's false claim that there was. Finally, there was no WiFi available, despite it being a standard expectation in most accommodations today.

When we tried to get a refund as we left the property upon arrival due to the issues, the owner was extremely rude and dismissive, accusing us of "purposely booking on a cheap night and coming in demanding unreasonable expectations." This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for guest comfort is appalling.

It's clear that this hotel is in a state of serious disrepair and lacks fundamental guest services. The fact that none of these critical issues were disclosed at the time of booking, coupled with the owner's appalling attitude, is dishonest and completely unacceptable.

Save yourself the trouble and...
