Kentraw Farmhouse is a beautiful property with stunning views in all directions. Large and tastefully decorated rooms along with a fully equipped kitchen (inc washing machine and dishwasher) - it has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay on Islay. Isabel and Donald were the perfect hosts and provided clear information in advance of my arrival as well as a quick, yet helpfully detailed, orientation of the house upon my arrival. Donald also accompanied one of my party on a run and led an expedition to the local pier where crabs and starfish, that had crawled into lobster nets, could be viewed (and then returned to the sea) much to the delight of both adults and the children. I can't fault any aspect of the house or the hosts - a wonderful time was had by all of my holiday party. Finally - a massive 'thank you!' to Isabel and Donald for forwarding a story book (and some other items), which I had accidentally left at the farmhouse, to my home address. This was above and beyond and I'm hugely grateful that the items were returned to me. Please do visit Kentraw and Islay - a wonderful...
Read moreDonald and Isobel could actually not have done anymore for us. We stayed in the farmhouse for a week and from the warm welcome to the send off everything was perfect. The farmhouse itself is lovely, spacious and finished to a high standard making it so comfortable. There is everything you need in the kitchen even baking tins and parchment paper!. There is a loaf of bread and lots of pancakes waiting when you arrive as well!.
The views are unbelievable ( even on the rainy days) and the farmhouse is lovely and warm. If you are looking for a comfortable home from home this is the place for you. All parts of the island are easily accessible from this spot aswell.
Donald also does tours and different activities in the area where one of the party went and walked up the paps of Jura.
The final point to make is there was a little patch of stone that car kept catching on the drive up the next day Donald was going down the path to fix it- find me a host that will go that far to make your stay comfortable!. Book now you will not be disappointed!.
Thank you both for everything and hope to...
Read moreI'm not usually a B&B type of person...I usually go for the hotels myself, however this place is a beaut and I knew we were in for a treat when our rental car agent asked where we were staying....his reply..."oh Don and Isable run a great ship". And you know what...they do. This place is super clean, right in the heart of Islay and at most a 20 minute trip to practically everywhere on the island. And your host could not be any nicer or friendlier.||We were welcomed with scones and tea and coffee, shown to our rooms and left to our own accords. After a day of touring the peaty swills it was nice to curl up in their living room, open a bottle or two and play the Islay edition of monopoly. The next morning we were greeted by the aromas of a super tasteful breakfast before we started our day.||Now times this by three since that how many nights we stayed with another couple and each night was superb. When we go back to the island we will not look elsewhere...it's either Kentraw or we will wait...
