Just had a wonderful time staying at Chestnut cottage at Brook Farm. Can't recommend this place enough. We were there with our 2 young kids (age 2 and 14 weeks) and the grand parents, n my dad is in a wheelchair. It was perfect. Clean, modern, beautifully furnished, comfy. Plus great for the kids with swing, slide and ride ons, plus trampoline in the spacious communal garden. Arran had a lovely time on our first day there, playing with the owners 2 little children. It was very sweet. Mike and Hannah are very friendly and welcoming. Layout was great- 2 of the bedrooms are at one end of the cottage with a bathroom, so that was perfect for us, my toddler in his own room, in the single, but close to us in the double next door. The double, although not the master, still had plenty of space for the travel cot (which Mike and Hannah provided) at the foot of the bed. My parents had lots of space and their own ensuite, plus didn't get disturbed during the night by our newborn being on the other side of the open plan living area. Kitchen had everything you could need including a sharp knife, which is often missing in self catering accommodation! And it has a lovely big dining table and comfy sofas.
We will definitely be...
Read moreWe are having a brief stay in the Farmhouse here at Brook Farmhouse Cottages. The Farmhouse is really well equipped and to a very high standard. I'm used to towel art at the Red Sea resorts but loo roll art is a new one for me, see the photo for an Easter themed bunny I assume. We are rattling around here as we were able to take advantage of a very late cancellation. We are using the top floor bedroom which is gorgeous, but having a lovely balcony (with loungers) having a great view over the countryside. It looks like all the bedrooms have en suite. The main lounge has a smart tv and an alexa linked to amazon music I think. Great tasting lemon drizzle cake waiting for us. We are also lucky (for the first week in April) with the weather with bright sun instead of the predicted rain. Really comfy bed and the dark skies in this fairly remote part of the island meant a great night's sleep. Hope to be back again soon. Edit.. Just looking at other reviews and can only assume that the clutch of 1 star reviews from over 3 years ago are reviewing the wrong place or, given the similarity of some of the wording, some people are maliciously submitting false reviews...
Read moreBooked and paid and received a booking confirmation in writing, only to be told 2 weeks prior to arrival that my booking has been cancelled due to the owner accepting another booking. House looks lovely but owner clearly has no regard for ruining people’s holidays. It’s now too late to find an alternative so we’ve missed out on our annual summer holiday. Don’t book here unless you can afford to risk a last minute cancellation from the owner. Note to the owner who is claiming not to have my booking - this was booked through Rural Retreats and I have a booking confirmation in writing for your property following full payment requested. This is for 5-12 Sept so has nothing to do with lockdown. Happy to send you the booking confirmation if you'd like. Also, interesting that this property is still showing as available on the HomeAway site for our dates and offered at a higher price. One does have to wonder. Either way our holiday (booked and confirmed at Brook Farmhouse) has...
