We booked in April for a single night's stay in September as part of a week long cycle tour of Norfolk. I was in dialogue with the the establishment via booking.com to ensure bicycle storage facilities for our two bikes were sufficiently secure, and was assured that they were. Quite unbelievably, over 4 months after booking and 3 days before our stay, they cancelled via booking.com, with an explanation via booking.com's team that they had overbooked. Whilst this at best this is incredibly unprofessional and incompetent, there was no attempt to contact us by phone or e-mail, no apology and certainly no effort by The Old Rectory to help us find alternative accommodation. As a result we were forced to scramble around to find accommodation that had secure bicycle storage just a few days before our stay in King's Lynn. Room we got a room in the basement so that wasn’t great, but the room was clean and one could say ok for comfortable
Bathroom (the worst bit) clean but had a basement feel and condition of it showed it’s location in the house unacceptable shower, electric with no pressure and tiny. We were really disappointed
The house generally speaking what a wonderful house, beautifully done lacked any area to relax, like a lounge
Breakfast cooked breakfast was good, but no other options for warm breakfast were available cold buffet pretty basic and looked rather cheap (didn’t match the elegance of the dinning room at all) the hosts were lovely but dressed in sweatpants which didn’t match the character of the building/guesthouse
Location very close to a lovely park and the station a bit of a walk to the...
Read moreStayed in Green room upstairs but this was on the upper floor and to reach this was too much for us as we needed to climb 2 flights of steep narrow stairs. There was no lift. So heavy suitcases we couldn't manage. Even if the room was on the ground floor, entrance via a basement door still presented a flight of awkward stairs. Arrival at night could do with better lighting as sight impaired people cannot easily see all the steps to be negotiated. All of this difficult access was not visible at time of booking either by verbal info or website. The bathroom in "G" room was narrow and difficult to use - especially the toilet. Breakfast room very pleasant and a good breakfast. Parking awkward. Some aspects of the room could do with a tidying, (wiring not looking good), and the armchairs turned around to face the TV. Overall a...
