We absolutely loved our stay here. We used a Buyagift voucher for the first 2 nights and extended a further 2 nights through their website for our anniversary. For booking in advance with a non refundable deal it cost us around £31 a night for two of us which is a bargain and huge value for money. On arriving to Thurnam Hall, the view of the building itself is stunning and set in a beautiful countryside. The turning itself into the Hall itself kind of creeps up out of nowhere and is a little misleading drive the first time you see it. We parked in the main car park to check in and on our way to reception we were greeted by a huge amount of ducks by a lovely pond. We then went to reception where we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was super helpful. She changed our bookings so we would be in the same room for our stay instead of changing rooms after the 2 nights. The room itself was super clean and just what we needed. A massive bed, a massive bath and everything you could need in the kitchen. Except for tea bags. However, this is self catering and the basic amount is provided for you. We have stayed with Diamond Resorts before so we know that there are extras you can purchase for a further cost. You can pay for Wi-Fi, the gym, swimming pool, laundry etc We were a little disappointed for breakfast, we paid just over £17 for a sausage and bacon bap and a bacon and egg bap and a teapot. We should've used that money and cooked our own, lesson learnt. It was tasty and it's not a complaint, just to make people aware of what you may pay on your stay. If I was being critical the only things wrong were that the pipes in the kitchen made some odd noises here and there, there were cobwebs and spiders in the bathroom and the shower/bath switch broke meaning we could only have a bath as the shower was leaking. However these are very picky little things and didn't bother us nor would we want to complain about it. We made reception aware of the bath situation but completely forgot to mention the strange pipe noises from the kitchen (we were in room 49). Overall we had an amazing stay and once again enjoyed staying with...

The apartment was amazingly massive! It had a wonderful kitchenette area and the beds were very comfortable. Good lighting with lamps placed strategically around the rooms. Rooms were warm. Lots of cupboard space. Rooms were a decent size. Cleaning during the week was ample, bins cleaned out every 2 days the annoying thing was in the 2 days it was changed there wasn't that much rubbish to throw out! I hadn't dropped towels on the floor for changing but they had been folded up very nicely. Room had been booked as a disabled friendly room. The disabled friendly toilet in the room did not have a rail for my disabled guest to hold on to. I had to find a disabled toilet in the leisure centre. The rooms looked like they hadn't been hoovered properly (there was hair on the floor that I spotted which wasn't mine!) The stool for sitting as I picked it up, the screws holding it together fell apart! Spiders and woodlice were in one of the rooms. Beds were not made when staff were cleaning! The drain in the bathroom tub hadn't been cleared out with hair in the drain. It was not my hair! As a result the drain was slow to drain. The kettle had limescale in it but it wasn't white that you would expect it was brown. I couldn't use it. It would be worth to note that the signage outside is not lit up and in the dark no one can see it. On first impressions, the place I stayed had rubbish skips and rubbish (not bins) on the side of wasn't very scenic! Leading onto a field. Overall the things I have picked out are very small but significant because I remember them! The stay was great and the stay was decent. Appliances were good. Dishwasher worked, coffee machine was good. It took a bit of getting used to electric hob!

Second visit same apartment was clean but many spiders found their way into the room. There were a few left overs from previous people in the room. One must question how long was the apartment left for and was it checked before...

Upon arrival, we were told to pay a security deposit, this was not something we were informed prior to booking. Nevertheless it was paid , got told it would be released back to us after midnight but its been 5 days now and we never got our money back. Also, room was OK but dissapointingly the coffee didn't work at all. Another note to mention, the directions to your room are not clear at all, they give you a piece of paper showing vague details and not very specific, took us a good 15 to 20 min just to find our room, the parking lot from the room is quite far so be prepared for a long carrying your luggage. The leisure centre was dissapointing, way to much chemicals in the water , and also the hot tub doesn't allow adults to sit with their kids in the hot tub, dont see what the issue is, been to many places who had no issues with parents having a child in the hot tub with them. I was also charged 2 pounds for towels but that wasn't the issue, I had to leave the leisure centre and walk back to reception to make a 2pound payment just to use a single towel! Never been charged to use a towel whenever I have stayed at hotels with leisure centres. The lad in the leisure centre was very sarcastic when I told him about the chemicals in the pool, it was as if he took offence when all we did was mention it, at the time my eyes were bloodshot red and I didn't even open my eyes under water. I have had to call several times about my security deposit I paid and every time I get the same response, they say they have released it at midnight after checkout but according to my bank its not been released back to us! Then they tell me it takes 7 days whereas the lady who I spoke to said it takes 2 to 3 days ! Also, the pool closes at 6pm and the bar last rounds at 8pm, as it is there isn't much to do there so why close everything so early ! Sorry but I will never ever go back there! If I could give 0...

We had a nice apartment, it was nice to see ducks out the windows, kids loved it. Service was not good everyone we met was happiest to do the minimum possible. Guy at the pool no you cant bring a child to the pool its adult time, 2 adults in the pool, the page with the map and all the information given at checkin doesn’t mention this, several other encounters with him all minimal compliance. Went to the small shop to get a few essentials sign says pay at bar but no sign to bar, ask a few people they say pay at bar & rush off before time to ask where is the bar, find the bar, wait then for 3 staff members - 1 or 2 of them behind the bar - with NO customers to finish chatting before being able to pay. Fire alarm went off on the morning off checkout, no-one came to see were the guests OK do a headcount etc, 2 guys came in a golf cart said it was probably a false alarm and they would sort it. Most people would not have seen them, we only did as we were at the car park, many others went to the green / congregated at one of the other doors that had some seating, we waited for 10 mins in the car then just went to checkout at that time as we were all packed. Lady on checkout didn’t acknowledge the fire alarm to apologise or ask how the stay was just you’ve prepaid its all done have a nice day. The staff are the only thing letting this place down, we didn’t eat here as the service level is poor, and empty any time we looked. Maybe the fact the restaurant is ran by another company accounts for some of this, but it cannot account for it all. If using as a base for a holiday then its still OK as you can mostly avoid dealing with the staff who seem to not care about the customer experience, its a shame as this place could be great & has a huge potential

A brilliant stay in an amazing hidden location. The 2 bed apartment was of high quality and had pretty much everything we needed in there from complimentary toiletries, coffee machine and salt and pepper sachets to name a few. The kitchen was fully kitted and had everything we needed. The bed and pillows were really soft and comfortable. We didn't get to enjoy the swimming pool on the first night. Rang the pool number and was told it was busy but can come down. Went down and was told it was at full capacity, waited 15 minutes and decided to book it in for the next day. (you have to pre book your swim). That's the problem with having late check-in at 4pm and pool closing at 6pm. Glad we did though as at 1pm the next day we had the whole pool, jacuzzi and sauna to ourselves for an hour as nobody else was there. Which was perfect. Plus no charge for using the pool or gym but you pay for towels which are bigger and different from the apartments so can't use them ones unless you bring your own. We also booked at the Lemon Tree Restaurant for desserts and the lady was so accommodating to our allergies and intolerances and told us about possible issue with all the food we ordered which was refreshing. The expresso Crème Brûlée was beautiful. We walked up to the church in the dark with our torch and phone lights which was pretty scary through the woods the church had a silhouette as the sun was almost set and it looked amazing. Check out is 10am, personally all check outs at hotels should be later, something like noon but we paid an extra £10 to check out at 11am instead. That definitely made a difference. All in all a great stay. Even with the small issues we enjoyed it. Would recommend.
