I stayed at the Palm Hotel in Hornchurch for an event attended by many families, including mine last weekend. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply distressing and unacceptable. In the middle of the night, while my cousin and I were asleep, a man kicked down the door to our room, screaming and shouting at us. Several of our friends were staying in the adjoining room and nearby rooms, including some who were younger, and they were also verbally abused by the same individual some of whom were subjected to racial slurs. Despite immediately reporting the incident to hotel staff and providing photographic evidence via email, the hotel allowed this individual to check out in the middle of the night without taking any visible or meaningful action. There was no follow-up, no support offered to us as victims, and no reassurance regarding guest safety. This experience was traumatic and has left us feeling completely unsafe and unsupported. I expected the hotel to take decisive action to protect guests, especially when families and young people are involved. Sadly, this was not the case. I hope the hotel seriously reflects on its handling of this situation and takes steps to ensure that no one else has to go through what we did.

I booked this hotel while on a business trip and as soon as I pulled into the car park I realised I had made a big mistake. Firstly, it's not in a very nice area. I noticed there were some unsavoury characters on the car park so I made sure I parked my car as close to the hotel entrance as possible. I then went into reception and the decor was horrendous. It is certainly not modern or upto date although it did look clean. The receptionist was pleasant but seemed to be having issues with the IT systems. Upon walking to my room I noticed a side door that was open slamming in the wind and anyone could access the hotel without being seen so I shut it. Before I got to my room there was a male guest screaming and shouting as loud as he could in his room. I certainly did not feel safe! I then went into my room and it absolutely stunk! It smelt like weed! The bed sheets and pillow case were also dirty. The toilet was leaking too. I couldn't believe there were no USB ports and no iron/ironing board either. Not ideal for a business trip!! Yes this is a cheap hotel but come on have some standards! After a 3 hour journey at the crack of dawn and working all day I did not have the energy to complain. |I then decided to go to the restaurant. They had run out of one of the beers which wasn't a good start. I then had a burger which was dripping with blood!! To be fair it was tasty and I was so hungry and tired I just ate it, had another beer (one they had in stock) and left. |I was hoping breakfast would be more of a success. After having a very bloody burger the night before I didn't want a cooked breakfast the following day. I decided to have some granola instead. I couldn't find the milk anywhere so I asked a member of staff who told me that they had run out of milk!!!!! What hotel runs out of milk??? Absolutely ridiculous! So I had paid £13 for breakfast and didn't get any! I had to pick something up from the petrol station next door before I went to work. |It is clear that this hotel needs a lot of work as it is most certainly below a standard you should expect regardless of the price. Next time I am in that area I will definitely...

Booked to be nearer London for a hospital appointment the next morning. Arrived to a very busy hotel hosting a huge wedding party who had taken over the hotel. I was not advised in advance there would be obvious disruption to my stay and would not have stayed here if I had known as needed a relaxing stay before a stressful trip to London. The room itself was very nice apart from the aircon was set at 23C and you cannot control it. Returned from dinner to feel very intimidated by the wedding party who obviously felt no one else should be at the hotel. Went to bed early as I had an early start and was woken repeatedly by people shouting, children screaming and running up and down the corridor. There were people outside my window shouting through the night. At one point someone was trying to come in through the connecting door which was only locked by a small flimsy bolt. Things really kicked off after midnight with people hammering on our door, I could see it was people from the wedding party who perhaps thought they knew people in my room but they were very angry and it was frightening. I got barely any sleep. The next morning the police had cordoned off reception and I was unable to check out or speak with anyone, a cleaner took my key card and said there had been fights. I then found my car blocked in and the whole car park was full of broken glass. I was late for my appointment and very stressed. I realised I had forgotten my charger in the rush half asleep trying to leave. I had no contact from the hotel who obviously had no concerns for their guests who were staying in this horrendous situation. After a lot of chasing after a month I was eventually given a refund (initial offer was a goodwill gesture instead of a refund which I declined) I spoke to several people requesting my charger to be returned as I lived too far away to collect and to chase the refund. The only helpful person I spoke to was Heena, 5 stars for her brilliant customer service and getting things sorted, thank you...
