booked this campsite for a night away with our children, girls ages 5 and 10. the place was beautiful and my brother joined us with his wife and 2 boys. the boys had electric bikes that was said was allowed to use on site if used at 5mph which we felt was very reasonable and safe. spoke to different staff members that complimented the bikes as they was quiet and good to view the woods. come the evening we was just settling for bed with the children around 9pm and 3 members of staff (the site manager) one of them come speeding to us in a car and all jumped out asking if we owned the bikes, we replied yes and they informed us that there was some complaints regarding using them. myself and my sister in law apologised when the manager started to become very aggressive to us and tried to take the keys for the bikes. he then went over to my van trying to open the door to get into it accusing us of not having a permit to stay (we did and i showed that evidence) . my brother come over to try to speak with them again apologising for any inconvenience caused. the manager become very aggressive and threatening to my partner and my brother by proceeding to get into their face and telling them to hit him. he also was putting his hand in his pocket to make us feel like he had a weapon. we begged him to stop as he was scaring the children but only left when a female member of staff had to push him away from my partners face. we was all so shocked and devastated. it was too late for us to leave so we had to spend the night in our tent. with no sleep as the girls we absolutely petrified that this aggressive man would return. this morning i went to reception to complain and the assistant manager said to me "i cannot deal with this now as our manager is having a mental breakdown" i proceeded to ask for the complaint's procedure and she replied no and refused to watch the video footage of the manager being aggressive but instead informed me that we are blacklisted from the sites and closed the glass window to end the conversation. this is the first time i have ever given a negative review but as this is a family campsite with young children i felt i needed to share our experience. i will be making a formal complaint and lucky we have video evidence of...

We camped here over the August bank holiday weekend (scorching hot weather) and were hounded by members of staff for putting up a small 6x6 ft Gazebo on our pitch to provide shade for the family and our dogs in dangerous heat levels. While it's fairly common for campsites to have a small one-off fee for a gazebo, £10 per night is completely unreasonable to pitch something smaller than a car, within the confines of an area already paid for (at already inflated prices due to bank holiday). And is pretty close to extortion in the height of summer

This in itself wouldn't have been grounds for a negative review normally, the young guy we spoke to first was perfectly pleasant and clearly just explaining things politely. However we found one member of staff was needlessly aggressive about it. Older member of staff with glasses , drives around in a silver pickup (presumably to carry around an enormous inferiority complex). Sadly I didn't think to ask his name while he was walking off, having come back to harass our family during dinner.

We eventually decided to just take shade in the woods rather than on our own camp area to save the stress of having to keep dealing with this person. Since we had been told this would happen every day of our stay and were all there just trying to relax.

I found out since that this same member of staff was once again aggressive towards a member of our family near reception on a separate occasion too. Which is a shame because anyone else we dealt with was lovely and as a group we paid a lot of money to occupy that area of grass for a weekend.

In summary: nice big area, good facilities, but this campsite is being let down by it's money grabbing extras policy and by one of it's members of staff who could do with some customer...

Lovely campsite in the New Forest - 1.5 hour hike from Beaulieu Rd or Brockenhurst station, so much quieter (no train or road noise) than Ashhurst and Hollands Wood. There are no pubs or restaurants nearby so you will have to bring food. Shop at Reception sells a few bits and also ice creams. Staff really friendly and helpful as are all the staff I’ve met at these sites. Wonderful choice of pitches even late Saturday on a summer weekend. Love being able to just choose where I want to pitch. (Although it seems to take me hours to walk around and find the perfect one) Vodafone signal very patchy - occasionally 1 bar of 4G and sometimes none at all - but enough that photos and texts eventually went through. Impressed that they have phone charging lockers! Toilets and shower blocks are disappointing. Toilets are in what looks like converted shipping containers, with each one having four toilet cubicles and a tiny space with just two tiny sinks and nowhere dry to place stuff while you wash/brush your teeth. Ashurst and Hollands wood do this much better with more sinks and more space in proper buildings. Shower was ok but 2 hooks was not enough to keep my dry clothes from getting wet. Bench area gets wet so you have no dry surfaces to place things while getting dressed. I’ll take a plastic bag to hang next time.

To Jane, Tom, the manager Mark, and every other staff member at Roundhill - thank you so much! What a weekend. Everything from the site, amenities, surroundings, and wild animals was a perfect start, and it was made even more special by the super friendly, helpful and kind staff. My partner is a really experienced camper, and he was thoroughly impressed with everything. I'm much less experienced, but chose this site with a good knowledge of Uk destinatons/campsites, and am extremely glad we found Roundhill. A few notes - if you're cycling and less confident on a simple city cruiser bike, be prepared for some ups and downs on the roads. There was enough flat terrain for me to have some easy and enjoyable cycles - but brockenhurst to roundhill has a few slopes I had to walk up, and roundhill to Beaulieu and around Beaulieu (on the roads) was too hilly for me. The paths are mainly doable though, just be prepared! Thank you again to Mark & the team at Roundhill!!! Also, I took way too many supplies - loo roll, a travel mirror, wet wipes - didn't need any of this. The showers are hot, the loos are heated and have mirrors. All you need is food, equipment, and essentials.

Such a shame. This isn't a review of the location, because it is fantastic, but a review of the staff. When we arrived to meet friends, who had paid for our pitch and were already set up, the lady at the entrance seemed to ask every possible question to find a reason not to let us in. When asked if we had a chemical toilet, to which we replied yes, the lady said to her colleague " well we're just going to have to take their word on that I guess" Once we were reluctantly let it, we had a great time. Upon leaving, our friends who have used this site every year for many years went to the entrance to pay tonleave their caravan on site for another week. The lady told them they have to book this online and refused to take payment at the desk. This resulted in my friends leaving and refusing to ever come back. Talking to other people using the site I kept hearing the same comments about the staff. I understand that new management will be in for 2023, so this review may well be irrelevant by then...
