With apologies for not doing this sooner (our visit was in early April) we must tell you what an amazing holiday accommodation this is. The spacious interior has everything that you could need for a break, plus more and our family of 6 (plus lurcher!) never felt hemmed in or short of space. The lodge is situated near the end of a no through road, which means it's a quiet location, yet easily reached and from the end of the road, about a 5 minutes walk, you have direct access into Sherwood Pines, with its activity trails, play areas, bike hire, wild running and mountain biking trails. The Major Oak, over a thousand years old, is in nearby Edwinstowe. Liz is the perfect host (check out the amazing welcome pack she puts together) and is always ready to answer questions. I've already mentioned that the lodge contains everything you need for the perfect break, including a washing machine! Outside, which is surrounded by a secure fence and lockable main gate, to ensure privacy, there was space to store all of our bikes. Plus the BBQ and hot tub. If you need shops or sports centres, Mansfield and Newark are less than 30 minutes away. If you think the Sherwood area is just Center Parcs, then you'll be pleasantly surprised at Loxley Lodge. Read moreJust back from our second visit to Loxley's Lodge and would highly recommend it. The lodge is well designed with everything you need including a gas BBQ and lovely hot tub. The beds and bedding are super-comfy and its nice to have TV's in each bedroom. The location is just great; peaceful and isolated although a close and easy drive to local shops and attractions. Plenty of parking outside for 3 cars. The best part for us was that our 5 dogs were welcome to visit and they loved the large outdoor space which was fully enclosed. A big bonus just to open the door and let them out to play without worrying about them escaping. Also, the forest opposite is great for them to run around. Liz is a great host and she leaves the most amazing welcome basket for both humans and dogs. Thanks Liz for another lovely stay. ...

The house is warned with either the log burner or underfloor heating and the two showers are decent. Liz popped by a couple times to check the hot tub for our safety (which is a normal activity) and we only saw her once.
It's great to be close to society but also feel so out of the way at the same time.
The Sherwood forest walk nearby was great. We saw the major oak tree which is a 1200 year old oak tree and did plenty of walks nearby.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a...
