We stayed at Amber’s bell tents over Easter. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t with us, but Amber did everything possible to make us as comfortable as possible - a plentiful supply of fuel for the burner and extra duvets and blankets.
The site at Mannington is a tranquil green field and is beautifully maintained. There is plenty of space between the tents, so you don’t feel crowded and each one has a fire pit, bench and table for those marsh mallow toasting evenings. Inside the tents, Amber has thought of every little detail to make it homely, cosy and luxurious. The bed was a comfy double and our son had a little camp bed. Plates, mugs, cutlery, a little gas burner, pots and pans are all provided. For me, used to rather more basic camping, the hot showers, equipped with hairdryers, were a revelation!
The surroundings area is lovely and has everything you need from woodland walks, to beaches, cafes and great pubs. I’d really recommend researching in advance and pre-booking for meals if you’re planning to eat out. We were there off season and many places were fully booked, so can only imagine what it will be like at half term/during summer holidays.
All in all it’s a fantasic place to spend a few days - especially if the weather is clement. Amber is a fantastic host and I’d thoroughly...
Read moreSadly this was disappointing, if you were expecting a camp site in a lovely location you'll be OK. If you are expecting glamping, or just camping to match the price, then unfortunately you are going to be left wanting. The interiors of the tents do not resemble the website. The "fridge" is a metal travel chest that you put frozen hot water bottles in, just not capable of keeping milk chilled let alone other food. None of the items that are pre-paid are in the tent on arrival - you need to collect them from the shed. In itself that's no issue but if you don't remember what you paid for and didn't appreciate there would be no mobile network so can't get the booking confirmation it's not ideal. The shower block (just 2 showers) is the shared toilet of the Hall and so incredibly difficult to be Covid sensible. The lady that lives on site was as helpful as it was possible to be. A nice campsite, but as every other tent left earlier than intended while we were there we weren't alone in feeling that this was expensive camping rather than the glamping...
Read moreReally shockingly poor value for money for the experience had . We are regular campers but the bell tent camping here was so poor in standard we missed our actual tent ! We missed the communication explaining that there is no electric on site whatsoever. Couldn’t keep our food cool everything went off after the first day as we had no fridge. The only solution was manky frozen hot water bottles but they were dirty . The toilets are really far from the tent , the showers were dirty the plugs were blocked the water pressure was useless. The tent it’s self was ok the bed was comfy , I wouldn’t say it’s very child/ toddler friendly, if you want to keep warm at night you need to light a fire but the burner gets so hot it’s a huge hazard with a little one . We were just super glad to leave which is just not like us , glad it was only two nights we had to endure to be honest. I’ll stick with my own tent in future it’s literally nothing like it looks on Instagram! I didn’t meet anyone on-site that was actually enjoying it either most people were...
