|Beautiful place and venue. Rooms where ok but cold. Said on check in could adjust 2 of the radiators in the room but these didn't seem to do much when we did adjust and the bathroom was on full with an electric radiator but always freezing. Had the food on the 1st night at windmill but due to both being vegi had no idea what we where going to eat before we arrived and when sat at table only had the meat options of menu available to refer to. Just felt a bit left out compared to others eating in the restaurant who knew what there menu was weeks in advance. On the 1st morning was looking forward to full cooked breakfast as highly rated within the reviews, but no electricity so no hot water for showers or hot drinks, no cooked breakfast was a few croissants but not enough for all staying. Was not offered any type of refund for not having this breakfast or any type of hot water being offered for a hot drink from neighbouring cafes or pubs that had electricity, until around 3ish in the afternoon which was way to late as had gone into Holt and bought a hot cooked breakfast by this point. 2nd night was very disappointed with the lack of vegi options from the 1st night so went to local pub a 2 mins walk away and had very tasty vegi meal and a number of options to choose from on that menu for all dietary requirements. 2nd morning did have electricity but seem to have run out of oil so no heating. And the whole service at breakfast was very faulty towers even one of the waiting staff referred to it like that as well. How can a hotel run out of heating oil I just do not know. On check out not even asked how our stay was or a mention of a slight refund for the various issues raised above. We where visiting to check out this as one of the top places in Norfolk to get married but didn't meet any of my expectations and would be highly disappointed if I had got married on this weekend with all the issues that went wrong. Received an email prior to writing this review whereby they wanted to discuss any negative feedback to be able to review and sort out 1st. Which we did reply and raise the same issues by which the response was quite shocking and not going to accept that they could of given a better service than they did, so sorry had to write this review. As the stay was not worth the money, we will not be returning and definitely will not be getting married...

A night at Cley Windmill, Norfolk. #windmill #boutiquehotel #norfolk

This has been on my want to stay here list for many many years so we came for 3 nights to celebrate a very large milestone Birthday. The Windmill is a truly enchanting place full of history and of a bygone era. A lovely tranquil place that you very quickly relax and unwind into. A beautiful setting and breathtaking scenery makes for a truly unforgettable stay. We were fortunate to stay in the Dovecote and River Room, both individual and unique, the Dovecote is self catering and outside the windmill while the River Room overlooks the gardens and River with the best view in my opinion being from the porthole bathroom window! We enjoyed the best breakfast we have tasted in a long time and hot choc with choc butterfly cake on a rainy afternoon...just sumptuous. My Husband said that The Chef knows her flavours and blends them expertly. The staff are welcoming, and friendly and create that wonderful experience. They are now doing a set evening menu on Thurs Friday and Saturday. Luncheon on Wednesdays and other themed events are planned. An amazing viewing balcony, superb for watching the starlings coming into roost, a pair of barn owls and Marsh Harrier hunting across the sunset reed beds.....just magical. The car park is not private so be mindful of parking if you need to get somewhere for a certain time. The coastal path runs adjacent to the Dovecote. So is it haunted....A glimmer or shimmer of energy in the Dovecote by a Victorian worker who seems at odds that it is a place to stay.....all peaceful and friendly and retreats to upstairs, and only a sensitive would be aware of this.

Our wedding at the Cley Windmill was an unforgettable experience. The picturesque setting, with the charming windmill as the backdrop, created an amazing atmosphere. The venue was impeccably decorated, blending rustic charm with elegant details, making every moment feel magical. The staff were exceptionally attentive and ensured everything ran smoothly, they truly went above and beyond. The outdoor ceremony was breathtaking and the indoor reception area was cozy and beautifully lit. The outdoor space was the perfect place to enjoy the afternoon/evening party and was great for the children guests, as we hired a bouncy castle. The hired Marquee provided by the windmill was a great space to do the cake cutting and for the dance floor and DJ. We used a private chef (Avril - Chef 2 Dine 4) and the food was top-notch, I have left a separate review for Avril. The windmill offered a delicious array of dishes that catered to all tastes for breakfast the next day. All our day guests stayed the night in the windmill and we have had only positive feedback, all of the rooms were well equipped, clean, cozy and comfortable. This windmill wedding venue provided a perfect blend of romance and intimacy. The wedding planner assigned to us (Donatas) communicated effectively with us from booking up until the big day and helped to make a naturally stressful process seem like a breeze, Donatas really helped with the legwork. Highly recommended, all of our guests absolutely loved it and have been well looked after by everyone at Cley Windmill!
