Awful. You can barely get into the car park some days because of all the builders vans parked over two spaces or parked diagonally.
The free wifi is terrible; cuts of every five minutes or so, and their 'ultimate' wifi isn't any better.
They regularly close the bar early, but will continue serving dangerously drunk people whilst they are open.
Numerous maintenance issues during my stay which have taken a long time to rectify, some of which have left rooms without power our water.
Key cards have been coded for a day only, for guests staying much longer.
Key cards have been issued to new guests for already occupied rooms.
Food in the attached Brewers Fayre is as you would expect; poor quality meat, almost everything microwaved, slow service. It's not even that cheap-there are plenty of places nearby that provide far, far better food at a similar price.
Most of the staff are genuinely very helpful. However, as mentioned above a free of the bar staff are self-serving and lazy. One of the assistant managers of either inexperienced or incompetent, and this manifests as either anger or abuse.
The only reason this place survives is because Premier Inn are so big, so appeal to corporate customers. It's not cheap ( (£70-£100 per night), it's not looked after properly, the bar and restaurant are run badly, it's not even particularly clean. You can get a much nicer room locally (with breakfast, which isn't included here) for...
Read morePlease note our following concerns:
Understaffed, with reception often left unattended so that staff could help in the restaurant/bar. Dated and shabby decor in all public areas - inside and out. Stuffy corridors with a strong musty smell and carpets not cleaned. Tables left uncleared in the restaurant for long periods and tables not cleaned properly leaving them sticky to the touch. Lack of choice at breakfast - certainly not as advertised with little choice for vegetarians, and the food was not always warm - with an insufficient supply of clean crockery and hot drinks. The room was exceptionally hot and stuffy, even with the one small window open. This made it extremely difficult to sleep and the one small fan provided was ineffective. The bathroom was not cleaned properly with the shower curtain hanging to the rail by only a few shower hooks. WiFi reception was poor.
And finally, within hours of eating the cooked breakfast on the second day, my husband became ill with vomiting and diarrhoea as a result of suspected food poisoning. This has resulted in him being confined to bed over the weekend and having to take today (Monday 2nd Sept) off work!
We certainly believe that our 2 night visit was not worth the £237 we had to pay upon arrival.
Therefore, we would appreciate it if some sort of compensation would be considered as reparation for our below...
Read moreI was disappointed that there was no lift, as women travelling alone are always put on the top floor for some reason. My room was also the first one from the stairs. Fortunately I was only disturbed but one group of people shouting along the corridor. My main complaint, though, was the freezing cold water coming from the shower. When I mentioned this to the receptionist as I left, she told me I should have informed reception. When I said I'm not sure how when I was in the shower, she just said "oh".
Update to previous review: I stayed here last weekend and it felt completely different to last time. The day before I arrived, one of the receptionists, Megan, rang to check if there was anything in particular that I required for my room. I have been staying in Premier Inns for years and have stayed in loads of them and this has never happened before. She asked if I was coming for a special occasion and I mentioned it was my birthday the previous day and that I was visiting my daughter. When I arrived in my room, I found a box of chocolates, a can of lager and a small bottle of sparkling wine, along with a card and birthday message from the hotel. I thought this was such a lovely thing to do. Megan deserves a special mention because she was extremely friendly and helpful...
