Another great stay for us at Bluebell Coppice. We had a tent pitch with private bathroom, and it really does make the stay a bit like camping with home comforts. You get a tap and a bathroom that's just for you so everything is really convenient and there's no need to have to walk far - great for someone like me with some mobility and pain issues. The owners, were quick to deal with any issues of all kinds though, which was reassuring. It's clear they care about their site. There were new wardens this year -Kai and Molly who fitted in really well - they're really friendly and helpful and I don't think I saw them stop the whole time I was there, they were working so hard. I hope they are there next year! Bluebell Barn is a new addition and really lovely breakfasts are served there - definitely a nice treat. The pop up restaurants are fab too giving a welcome break from cooking. We were there for the Pizza van (great pizzas and we even got to 'test drive' some garlic bread for them which will hopefully come onto the general menu soon as it was wonderful) and Battle of India's curry night. (Great value just the right amount of food for an evening meal, and a super way to test the food at the local Indian restaurant/takeaway for a cheaper price than a full takeaway. It was so nice we actually ordered a full takeaway a couple of nights later from the restaurant directly!!) We were very sad to miss Burger Night as heard great reviews, but we will be back next year and first in the queue. Best things about the park that ive not already mentioned? It's secluded, small and family run. There is a quite time between 10pm and 8am which is overall adhered to so you can get a nice peaceful sleep. There's always the occasional oddbod who thinks the rules don't apply to them, but the wardens do patrol and to be honest, the oddbods are few and far between-the site attracts decent, respectful people on the whole. The pitches are a decent size, no there's not acres of space in between each pitch as its a small site, but there is plenty of room and it's really social. We have made some lasting friends from neighbouring pitches but equally there is always a way to pitch your tent to be away from the neighbours if you prefer to keep yourself to yourself. The playpark is a lovely space for kids to play on, and the site itself is safe. I'd have no issues letting my child go and play with their new friends. The forest is one huge adventure park for both dogs and kids. Lots of sticks for the dogs, and sticks for the kids to make dens with. Dogs can run loose in the forest, but must be on a lead on the pitch, which is great as it means anyone nervous of dogs doesn't have to worry about a random dog turning up on their pitch. The lake is a small lake, but a peaceful place teaming with wildlife. There's some lovely seats down there where you can sit and quietly watch nature do it's thing. The well stocked honesty shop! I can't forget that. Such a rarity in this day and age, and really sets the tone for how the campsite works -trust and respect all round.
What could be better... not much really... I suppose a washing machine and dryer just for campers would be good as the one machine there is often doing laundry for the site. There's also just 2 sinks for washing up. We never really encountered queues, but perhaps a sink on the back side of the private bathrooms would be a nice touch for the private bathroom pitches to use. Popping a pitch number on the amenities privately designated to each pitch would avoid incidents of misuse. I'd definitely recommend a stay here, especially as they have Bell Tents and lodges - ideal for people trying camping for the 1st time or grandparents coming on holiday who can't manage tent...
Read moreWe were very disappointed with our experience of this site. Weâd booked and paid for two nights from 5th to 7th of September (Thursday to Saturday)and had an email confirmation of this. We were looking forward to staying at the site and making use of our own shower and bathroom facilities, the 24 hour honesty shop and the wooded area. Upon arriving at the site we were told that there had been a mix up over the bookings with their system and that theyâd booked us in for the Wednesday to Friday instead and that we would probably be unable to stay for the Friday night, as a wedding party had booked up the site and wanted the whole place to themselves, as it was the night before the wedding. They said that theyâd tried to ring us about three times the day before, but I hadnât received any calls. Because of this we didnât put our awning out on the Thursday night or relax as we normally would. The following morning my husband saw the male site manager who told us that âit shouldnât be a problem for us to stay as he knew the wedding party; that heâd check with them anywayâ. We then left the site for the day. Later on in the afternoon we had a call from the female site manager to say that basically the wedding party didnât want us to be there and that weâd have to leave the site straight away. She asked us to find another site ourselves on pitch up.com! After my husband complained and insisted, she did offer to find us another site and this was booked up. We returned, collected our stuff and left straight away. The new campsite was very nice, but had less facilities (ie we didnât have our own bathroom facilities and the toilets were a bit of a walk away, no honesty shop, and absolutely no Wi-Fi or phone signal on our pitch, which was a problem as we needed to get in touch with our daughter). Also, it was ÂŁ20 cheaper. Afterwards we contacted the site to ask for our ÂŁ20 back that we were owed and have received no response as yet. I have quite severe anxiety and it made my symptoms much worse for the next couple of days. We were disappointed and annoyed. Whilst we realise that mistakes happen and we do appreciate that the wedding party wanted the site to themselves; surely our needs were also important as âmere campersâ. We were made to feel that we werenât important. We could have been moved out of the way of the wedding party. The wedding wasnât until the following day and the venue and bar facilities were away from the pitches anyway, so we wouldnât have bothered anyone. We would have gone into our van and shut the door. They did offer us a two day complimentary visit in the future, but as we live over 4 hours away we wouldnât have made use of this as we were unlikely to return that way again. So disappointed and annoyed. The site itself was pretty and the facilities were good. I think it was the attitude of the staff that bothered us more; that the wedding party was important and we werenât. Also, not bothering to reply to our email and not returning the money we were owed. Beware of booking unless you double check with the site before you arrive and donât expect much sympathy If you are...
Read moreThis is our forth year of camping at Bluebell Coppice Park. We absolutely love it here, beautiful secluded location. We have a pitch with private bathroom and water tap. The private bathroom is a perfect size and always clean. The pitch we were on (pitch 2) the tap is on the side on the pitch and could do with a number on it, as some campers thought it was a communal tap. The owners ( Des and Jules) are super helpful and always happy to stop and chat and sort out any issues that arise. There were a few new things at the campsite. The log cabin where you can get a delicious breakfast roll and coffee. Absolutely well worth it and served with smile! The pizza pop up van was back again this year and was again good value and really scrummy! The new pop up was the Indian food from the new Indian restaurant in Battle called 'Battle of India. This pop up was situated in the new log cabin. You had a choice of 3 curries which came with a side each and a salad and rice. The price was perfect at £10 per person. The serving was generous and hot and went down extremely well on a lovely summer evening. I do hope it is there next year. Something we didn't realise until Des and Jules told us is they don't take any money for the pop up food events. They just organise it,so 'we' (the campers) have different events going on for us. Which I think is a really nice thing to do. The 'Honesty' shop is great and always clean and stocked with drinks and ice cream. This is also where you can do your laundry if you need to. We had new Wardens this year, Kai and Molly. A young, friendly couple who are just perfect for the campsite. Super hard working and helpful. Honestly,do not have a bad word for them. We were lucky to have near perfect weather for camping and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a super friendly site where (most) campers are there for a relaxing time. Great fun for families with children. There is a brilliant play park in the centre of the campsite and the Forrest is great for an adventure with the kids or a good walk around. The pond/lake looked so much better this year with bespoke handmade chairs and benches to sit on. There is a 10pm 'quiet time' rule, which is mostly adhered to. So bear that in mind. You can also rent a fire pit for your stay. Which is lovely for a cool evening. You can buy logs/kindling and fire starters at the honesty shop. All in all a really friendly campsite run by a...
