Ash Woods Retreat — Hotel in South Hams

Having spent 2020 doing lots of Uk based trips for obvious reasons, this has got to be the stand out one for me of the year. In fact, this ranks right up there with breaks had all over the world. Ash Woods Retreat truly is unique. The hosts Christopher and Carmen are amazing. From the meet and greet and warm welcome to the secluded shepherds hut, to checking out, everything went seamlessly and nothing was too much trouble. It doesn't stop there though......words, pictures, even videos cannot do this luxurious, yet perfectly in keeping with its woodland location, shepherds hut justice. Whether someone is looking for cutting themselves off to the outside world and recharging the batteries in the peaceful wooded area and enjoying all the offerings nature has or using this as a base to visit this delightful part of Devon, I dont think you could find a more exciting and exclusive place. In the 5 days myself and my partner spent here we managed to walk to the local beach (Blackpool sands) and had a breakfast looking at the blue sea, a trip to Burgh Island, walks and shopping around Dartmouth, plenty of lovely food and of course, some absolutely breathtaking walks around the farmland and woodland of the owners working farm. In the evenings the wood burner kept us cosy while chilling out in what I would describe as a 5 Star luxury accommodation. I will be returning sooner...

Wonderful second visit to this beautiful , spacious shepherds hut .

Everything was incredibly clean , well stocked and the wood fired hot tub is wonderful . Ashwoods retreat is very quiet and private , it’s amazing to sit in the tub and just hear the birds around you

Highly recommend taking up Chris and Carmen’s offer to take the luggage around to the hut while you walk through the woods .

We stayed during storm Kathleen but were warm , snug and safe inside the hut . This time the bluebells were just starting to come out . We will definitely...

We've just returned from a couple of nights at the retreat, family of 4 with two boys. I'm still struggling for the best words to describe how amazing the hut and woods are. To have them to yourselves was so unique and the most special place I've ever been. The hosts have done such a good job. For my wife and I it was more about the land and we wanted to spend all our time at the retreat rather than exploring the local area which would have been our norm when away. Truly...
