Riverside Cottage is a small quiet lovely home and Andy is a most helpful and friendly host, offering advice and insights about every part of the Isle of South Uist and adjacent islands. He has many local maps and reference books one can access and a comfortable immaculately clean home near the river and beach. He offers to pick up and drop off foot passengers at the ferry landing and as a long time resident of South Uist, he has inside knowledge to all the best spots to visit. The breakfast he offers (he was a chef for 30+ years) is extraordinary -- eggs from his chickens, locally sourced bread, potatoes from his garden, delicious bacon or sausage, pudding, juice, toast and a variety of teas, coffee and cereals.|Do not pass up the opportunity to stay at the reasonably priced Riverside Cottage. You won't find...
Read moreThis place is tops! Andy is a wonderful host who cares about his guests and wants you to love this beautiful part of the world as much as he does. I stayed in the twin room, which was spacious and comfortable, with a nice big armchair to sit in and a lovely view of the garden. I could barely hear the guests in the next room (walls are thick). You can get meals at the Borrodale Hotel, about a mile away, and Lochboisdale is about a 2-mile walk in the other direction. Andy puts out loads of snacks, fruit, and drinks for guests to enjoy for free and serves a very nice cooked breakfast, as well. When I asked him to help me organize a taxi to the ferry at 5 a.m., he said, “Don’t bother, I’ll take you myself!” He goes above and beyond in all respects but still charges a very affordable price. Highly...
Read moreLovely comfortable little B&B on South Uist. Stayed here with my wife Julia and little dog Haggis. Very pet friendly. Andy is a lovely man and will go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Rooms are clean and comfortable and spacious with everything you need. It has a large spacious garden which is great for sitting outside in the better weather. The only downside for some people, but not us was a shared bathroom/shower. This is not any problem as there are only two rooms. Big selection of cereals and fruit for breakfast and Andy freshly cooks a big full Scottish for you. The eggs are especially nice as they come straight from his own hens. Will definitely be back, and a great base for visiting the whole...
