We had an amazing weekend here using a ready tent as a base for alton towers.|3 nights here was cheaper than 2 night in one of the tiny star gazing pods at alton towers and we were delighted to have chosen to stay here instead. We have already stayed in all of the other alton towers accomodation and knew how hot they can be in July, as we often stay this weekend, our daughters birthday, and have almost melted in the alton towers hotels in the past!||The ready tent was perfect;|The bedrooms were blackput (so we all accidentally overslept on our 2nd night!)|Having a table, kitchenette, with fridge (including ice box) kettle and toaster, space to play, plug sockets and place to put our "stuff" was so much better.|There was also a small heater which took the nip off at night.|Everything from a tea towel and dettol tyoe spray was provided||The toilets / showers and washing up areas were very clean and hot.||The children enjoyed the playground and it was handy that there was also a laundrette onsite. There is a small shop but we didnt go in to see what it sold.||We appreciated the padlock for the tent. We have stayed in similar safari tent with eurocamp before which didnt have any lock, so it was a pleasant surprise that we could lock the tent.||The tent slept 6 with a double bed in the adult room, and a double with single on top bunk and a trundle single bed too so this would be a great option for a family with up to 4 children.||I was pleased to have packed an extension chord so we could all charge our phones from inside the bedroom (There are plug sockets in the kitchen and bedroom, but all the lights and heater (and fridge / kettle etc) need to use the sockets.||The quiet hours were form 11pm - 7am. The people behind us played loud music until 11, but did turn it off at 11pm as per the rules. (You can also not drive in / out of the site between these times)||Campfires are not allowed and a stone is provided if you wish to barbeque.||I noticed that the camping side was very busy with tents and caravans packed in tightly, but the ready tent area was much more spacious.||I will DEFINITELY stay here again for our future visits to...

Read moreA friend and I stayed at this site for two nights over the weekend so we could complete a charity hike organised by Macmillan Cancer support on the Saturday.
We asked a staff member whether we could be let out of the site at 6am rather than 7am (when the barriers are open). We explained to the staff member that we needed to leave at 6am because we were doing the charity hike for Macmillan and needed to be at the start line before 7am.
The staff member flatout refused to spare a moment of time to open the barrier slightly early for us, so we could get to the start line on time for the charity hike. This staff member then became increasingly hostile after we pleaded with them for some flexibility because we were doing a charity hike for Macmillan. The staff member then just said the same line over and over "the barriers are closed....the barriers are closed".
Because of the hostile and inflexible staff member who refused to support camping and caravan club members who have raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan, we were forced to arrange emergency travel from the site to the start line in Ashbourne.
Overall the site was ok and as expected from a camping and caravan club site, but I can only give 2 stars due to the experience I received during my stay.
The Camping and caravan club have a motto of "The friendly club"; all I got from this site was hostility, inflexiblity and a refusal to support its members while they try to raise money for a national...
