Came for a 7 night stay in middle of August. 5 of us (3 full time wheelchair users) stayed in the accessible "Cottage by the Pond" and I was not disappointed. As an owner of a travel agency, this is somewhere I would have no hesitation on recommending to our clients. ||||Little blackboard welcoming us as approached. We were not even out of the car when we were warmly welcomed by Sue, with helpful advice on where not to park as it would spoil our view from the cottage. ||||The moment we set foot in the cottage it was obvious that this was accessible and extremely well thought out. One twin room has bed which raises and tilts with plenty of space for mobile hoist underneath. The double room was manageable for an independent wheelchair user. ||||Kitchen - Had everything you could want, combination microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, fridge freezer, etc. My only wish was that there was a knife sharpener as the cooking knives were very blunt and that is a pet hate fo me. Access - one lowered surface, but hob, sink and other counters were normal height. Fire blanket in easy reach on wall. As was the central heating controls which could be easily managed by a wheelchair user. ||||Accessible bathroom had lowered bath , accessible basin, closomat loo, roll in shower with both fixed and handheld shower heads and wall hung drop down wooden seat. ||||Dining / Living room - STUNNING view with full window. Furniture can easily be moved to make access to dining table. Riser armchair there too. Homely and an amazing place to chill and relax. ||||Night skies are amazing. If you have any interest in astronomy, bring the telescope as if the skies are clear you will not regret the extra luggage on board. ( My husband belly ached repeatedly that he did not take his)||||Read the documents in the cottage, they got buried under a bag and we found them quite late inthe stay and realised you could get supplies very reasonably priced from the farmhouse. eggs, bread, butter. ||||It's an organic farm and proud of it. Rain water supplies the toilets, refuse is sorted with bins just across the courtyard hidden in the allotment area. Hot tub is amazing how it is fueled not to mention where it is located. Secluded and idyllic. ||||Sue Prince art studio is well worth a look and try to get her to show you round as the explanation of the artwork is fascinating.|| ||If you are expecting to come here and carry on working, forget it...the wifi is not great, Fine for the odd email / whatsapp but not gaming / conference calls, but it's a place to relax, connect friends and family, so get over it! ||||We will be back and do not mind what time of year as the log fire for winter...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful stay at Beechenhill. Alex was incredibly welcoming right from the start and made us feel really comfortable. ||||From the moment we stepped in the cottage we felt really welcome and relaxed. A beautiful sponge cake was left for us on the table along with fresh milk in the fridge. The cottage was immaculately cleaned and had everything we could have needed and more. ||||The views from the cottage were spectacular, watching the sheep with their lambs and the views of the rolling hills were incredible. Sitting outside on our first night with a bottle of Prosecco and a slice of cake watching the sunset made for a great start to the holiday. ||||We went on many walks during our stay, we would recommend exploring Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud, Carsington Waters and Milldale. We would highly recommend Polly’s Cottage at Milldale - wonderful ice cream at really good prices. We also recommend The Bowling Green in Ashbourne - we had a wonderful meal here. ||||Once we had finished our walks, we were able to relax in the gardens of Beechenhill overlooking the rolling hills. ||||On our final day we were treated to the hot tub by our family. This was an incredible experience, we were delivered a hamper of Prosecco, handmade chocolates and robes. The hot tub is wood fired and has the cutest little hide away next to it with a log burner and multiple tea lights in it. It felt magical. I would highly recommend anyone saying at Beechenhill to enjoy the hot tub experience as it was just wonderful! ||||We spoke to Alex multiple times over our stay and she was always so lovely, accommodating and happy to help us with any questions we had. ||||We will absolutely be returning to Beechenhill in the future! ||||Thank you so much Alex, we’ve had...
Read moreWhat an amazing and relaxing stay we have had courtesy of winning the NHS competition, We stayed in the Beechenhill Cottage which sleeps 2 people, with only a cow to look in at the window, it had fantastic views for miles of the lovely green fields. Everything that was done to make our stay special included, all the little thoughtful touches such a bottle of wine and chocolate on arrival in the cottage. A lovely hamper with robes, prosecco and more chocolate were delivered to the cottage for the hot tub on our first night. We couldn't have wished for a more peaceful and relaxing stay. Alex and Sue were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble (even a lift home one evening from Ashbourne back to the cottage)! ||Things we enjoyed whilst we were there: Lovely Dovedale stepping stones only a 5 minute drive from the cottage. The main town Ashbourne is about 15 minutes drive away, lots of nice cafes, restaurants (Bowling green for gorgeous steak) and pubs (The Ye Old Vaults, a real locals pub with cheap drinks). ||Thanks again to Alex and all the fantastic team at Beechenhill farm, you couldn't of made our stay any more enjoyable if you tried!! Utterly perfect and a fantastic spot for anyone wanting to just relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside! We will certainly...
