Bell's Holiday Cottage is top notch in every respect. Spacious, immaculate yet still cozy and has every home comfort. We have never had such a generous welcome at a holiday cottage before - very thoughtful and very delicious.
The cottage is old - one of the oldest in the village - but has been sympathetically modernised. In addition to the efficient central heating, the woodburner (wood & kindling supplied) ensured toasty evenings in by the fire after a good days walking & exploring.
Family Friendly and Dog Friendly: Nothing is too much trouble for owner, Caroline, who continually strives to improve upon perfect. Fancy some holiday baking? A food processor, recipe books and accoutrements are there for you. Fancy some board (bored?!) games? There is a toy chest for you. Fancy reading? Or listening to music? Or watching a dvd? Yep, there's a good supply of all these things in the cottage. Plus a washer dryer and dishwasher to minimise those chores - you are on holiday after all!
The bedrooms are large, have beams & sloping ceilings. Look out of the windows (the original size but now double glazed wood frames) & see the beautiful thatch. The beds were very comfy with hotel quality bedding.
Good water pressure made for reviving showers or baths. Caroline provides the softest, fluffiest towels I have ever had the pleasure to use.
Dogs are made extremely welcome - the spacious ground floor allows plenty of room for dog beds and snoozing hounds. Provision of holiday dog tags with the Bells Cottage address & its own landline number is inspired should your dog be unfortunate enough to get lost along the miles of footpaths and bridleways.
The surrounding area was an unexpected delight of countryside walks, trout/salmon watching and excellent pubs and restaurants. We did not drive more than 9 miles radius from the cottage in a fortnight - most days just 3 miles maximum.
I worry about raving how good places are in case it encourages people to book when I want to return.....on the other hand I'd like to see Bells Cottage always fully booked as it deserves to be.
We had the most fantastic holiday at Bell's Cottage. Even the weather was dry and sunny throughout. The autumn colours were glorious (although the area must be stunningly beautiful all year) and we will definitely be returning.
Thank you Caroline (and Carolines mum) for making our stay so very special and Congratulations on your well-deserved...
