Let’s start with a question – why is this hotel, not a four or five-star hotel?

As a reviewer, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel, and I must say, my experience was outstanding from the moment I walked through the doors. The friendly receptionists warmly welcomed me, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. One of the standout features of this hotel is the convenience of online check-in, which allows guests to save time by filling out necessary information ahead of their arrival.

Upon entering the lounge, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the old manor house. The open fire in the centre of the room created a cosy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with a drink or enjoying a good book. The ample seating arrangements, including the provision of quieter areas in adjoining rooms, ensured that there was always a comfortable spot to unwind after a long day.

Speaking of drinks, the bar at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel certainly did not disappoint. The prices were reasonable, and the selection of drinks was extensive. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, a cocktail enthusiast, or a beer aficionado, there is something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the attention to detail given to the presentation of the drinks, with each one being expertly crafted.

Moving on to the room, I had the pleasure of staying in room number 3. The layout was spacious and clean, with a double bed positioned against one wall. The two large windows offered breathtaking views of the extensive grounds and let in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The bathroom was also ample in size, featuring both a shower and a bath. I must commend the housekeeping staff on their exceptional attention to cleanliness.

While the overall experience in the room was superb, there were a few minor issues worth noting. The television provided was on the smaller side and could benefit from an upgrade. Additionally, the lighting near the table and chairs was insufficient for reading or working. These minor shortcomings, however, did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

The breakfast experience at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel was a delight. The buffet style allowed guests to choose from a variety of well-prepared hot food items, catering to different preferences and dietary requirements. The availability of continental breakfast items was also appreciated, and I was particularly impressed by the presence of two coffee machines and one fresh juice machine, ensuring that guests could enjoy a wide range of beverages to start their day on the right foot.

Finally, I had the opportunity to visit The Club, the hotel's spa located a short walk away. The amenities provided were impressive, including a sauna, steam room, large swimming pool, hot tub, and gym. I was delighted to discover that usage of The Club facilities is complimentary for hotel guests. This added value is a true testament to the commitment of Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel to providing an exceptional experience for their guests.

In conclusion, my stay at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel was nothing short of remarkable. From the friendly reception and quick check-in process to the cosy lounge with its open fire, the hotel exudes warmth and hospitality. The well-appointed room, with its breathtaking views and ample bathroom, was a pleasure to stay in. The breakfast offered a variety of delicious options, and the availability of The Club facilities added a touch of luxury to the overall experience. While there were a few minor issues, they did not significantly impact the overall enjoyment of my stay. I highly recommend Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and memorable stay in a beautiful setting.

I have stayed in lots of Best western hotel. But this one’s the worst. Lovely old building as you would expect dated for its age. But felt really let down by the conditions. |Above is only a few of the photos I took. |We arrived very early just off a cruise ship. We couldn’t get an early check in which was fine. Told we could use the facility’s Headed up for a look. Young man was lovely but swimming lessons were on and said best to come back between 12 - 4 as would be quiet headed back to hotel. young girls in the breakfast restaurant were fabulous told us to grab a tea or coffee from the machine at no charge. After sitting near reception I overheard people complaining about the place. After a while they were mounting up. I never base my review on others but wishes I had this time. |Fire Alarm .6.45 we headed down for one of the top floor rooms to outside with only one other couple in front of us who stoped at the front door. As I glanced to my right older male and female in office behind reception. He looked over then looked away I asked was there anyone to guide people out. In a rude manor said well I’m here huffing and mumbling as he walked over and said see I’m here.. I just replied sorry not good enough and carried on outside. Staff were very complacent about the alarm and very few people came out there room even after a good 7 -10 min very few people out. I later found out this happens on a daily basis. God forbid if there is a real fire. ||||The spa looks lovely and pool, hot tub and steam room were good. The pads on deckchairs where very dirty, changing rooms leave a lot to be said desperately needing upgraded I walked in to a woman cutting her toenails on the bench clipping going everywhere and that was it for me.|Hotel had a small wedding on . Small bar area was packed late afternoon and early evening. We decided to get food in so we could sit and enjoy it. Given the stains on most of the chairs this was a good idea to have it in the room as was cleaner. Mess from the wedding was still there at 1pm the next day. Outside bin over flowing with rubbish and cigarettes ends staff just walked past it . |Room is old set up for one person one packet of biscuits and one hot chocolate for two people had to go looking for pillows and towels. Only one widow opened slightly but wouldn’t stay open. No air con but one small fan in wardrobe room we very hot. Plus side the bed was comfy. Young female staff members were lovely | Food prices were ok but the Bar was overpriced. Not a cheap place to stay either. |In the right hands could be a beautiful...

Hated it from the minute i entered. The grounds as you enter are very deceiving|We went for our anniversary. After staying the night before in a really nice village hotels, we came here for 2 nights. From the outside you think wow, and then you enter...The car park was full. I think people leave their cars here then go away as noticed some returning. The check in wasnt exactly welcoming. The executive double was run down and bed absolutely tiny and uncomfortable. Toilet didnt flush properly, mould on bathroom ceiling and broken lock . You cant open bathroom door if showering as apparently fire alarm goes off (theres sign on door) you would think they would get better ventilation . The shower would randomly stop every now and then. Everytime we left the hotel, we had to try and find someone at the badly manned reception as the key didnt work and we couldnt get in. Theres fire doors on each floor constantly slamming, theres quite a gap under the door to hear this. They accept dogs here so not great if you suffer from allergies. Witnessed one man with his dog eating dinner off the table on his lap at the bar 🤮 hardly inviting. We decided not to eat dinner there. |You get an old kettle to make tea etc |The club pool facilities.....no mens locker keys all broken so have to take you stuff poolside, one member of staff which we waited ages for as she had to do all the bins aswell, one tiny changing room, loads of broken lockers. The floor is soaking wet as noone to dry it. I did ask at the club reception. The young girl in there was really nice. She said its only cleaned once a day as only one staff member to do everything. We tried the facilities but sitting in a dirty sauna with a man scratching his feet like crazy was too much. I dread to think what would happen if there was an accident here. My husband did offer to take me back to other hotel but we had already paid for this. |The breakfast wasnt too bad. I wouldnt reccommend this hotel and i certainly wouldnt go back. It needs more money spent on the upkeep and more staff, give the reception staff some cusomer service training and get a maintenence person in to fix things. It seems all about profit here and cutting costs as much as possible rather than guest satisfaction. We ended up leaving first thing as it was meant to be a relaxing break but i was more tired than when i left. |There are much better hotels in the area at a cheaper price, id suggest looking at those instead. I would not visit another best western because of this...

Be prepared to walk miles and up to 3 flights of stairs if you book an executive room. Staff were helpful and friendly at the front desk and in the gym but unfortunately my stay was a complete hassle. I booked an executive room expecting there to be bath as per the photos but in order to get this it seems you have to specify it on the booking. After phoning the front desk several times I had to climb back down the 3 flights to speak to someone. Anita (front desk) explained there was no other executive rooms available but there was 2 standard rooms that I could chose from. She gave me the key cards to check if they had a bath as it wasn’t listed on her system. After checking the 1st room it had a shower and the other room key card didn’t work so I went back to the front desk and she said to go back to my room and she’ll check the other room for a bath. After climbing the 3 flights of stairs again and waiting I was exhausted and decided not to take the standard room offered with a bath as I paid a premium for the executive room. I appreciated Anita’s patience who tried to help me. I paid £15 for one extra hour after checkout until 12:00, went back to my room at 11:10 (3 flights) and my room key didn’t work. Back to the front desk again as there was no phones in the corridor (3 flights) and after 10 minutes my room card was sorted, climbed another 3 flights back to my room. Spa and fitness centre is in another complex 5 mins walk up the road. If you need accessibility, I would recommend specifying it on your booking and get the cheaper room on the ground floor. No water is provided for in any of the rooms and there’s no water fountains which seems crazy especially in summer with no air conditioning in the rooms. No fridge in room. Specifically booked this hotel for the gym which I had a good workout. Fitness centre was well equipped but unfortunately geared towards cardio or bros doing upper body workouts so I wouldn’t say it’s universal experience for women doing weightlifting. Only one machine for legs that does leg extension and leg curls. No leg press machine and no space or safe area to do squats or deadlifts. Spin bike was male specific on the gym floor which was a shame so if you’re female and more petite it’s not worth the potential injury. No water fountain on gym floor. No room service. Restaurant and Bar were expensive and on par with London prices. Not sure I’ll be back to be honest. Giving 3 stars for the staff only.
