Myself and my wife came across waldon valley lodges online and what a fantastic find it was! The 3 lodges are situated around the outside of a small carp lake that's nestled inside a small woodland next to the river waldon. There's some nice local walks to be taken with the dogs and the village of Bradworthy is 5 minutes walk away, which is absolutely perfect for anyone needing amenities such as a local store or the butchers. The pub in the village (Bradworthy inn) is a real gem. These old school village pubs are in decline and we were made to feel very welcome every time we popped in. The Lodge we stayed in was Hazel and we had our 2 dogs along with us for the break. The lodge had pretty much everything you could ask for for a self catering lodge along with WIFI and a smart TV. The lodges are Geographically perfect for anyone who wants to explore the Cornwall and Devon coastline. Monica and Derek the owners are absolutely lovely attentive people who's sole purpose is to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The fishing on the lake is ideal for pleasure anglers along with junior carp anglers looking to improve there fishing. We booked the lodge because of the idyllic spot and we only fished when we weren't exploring the coast or the local reservoir which itself has fantastic walks (upper tamar). I found the carp in the pond young and fit and in mint condition. Mainly commons between 2lb to 12lb along with some stunning mirrors between 2lb to 6lb. I think these lodges are perfect for young anglers and parents that want to spend some quality family time together, surrounded by nature and all in the confines of there own personal space. We shall definitely be returning in the future and thank Monica and Derek for their hospitality.

Wow, wow, wow! I have just got back from the most amazing week at the lodges and I left at the last minute because I didn't want to leave! What a magical fairyland! No need for any music or TV, as the sound of the birds, the river, the frogs and the splashing of the fishes was music to my ears, I made sure to leave the windows open so I could hear it all night long. Immersing in the woodland was just gorgeous, the river walk and the lakes too. I really was in heaven! The lodge was so cosy and comfortable with everything I needed for a week of relaxing me time and the log burner was the cherry on top! Monica and Derek were perfect hosts and I really can't wait to return. Thank you both so so so much, big hugs Nyxie xxx

Without doubt the most relaxing holiday in many years. Fantastic base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. Monica and Derek were perfect hosts. For the fisherman the pond has some VERY decent carp.

Just had a week down this lovely relaxing setting. Monica and Derek were the perfect hosts. The fishing was great, along with our accommodation Hazel Lodge. We had the weather too and had a few meals at the Dog friendly Bradworthy Inn just a 5 min walk and excellent pub grub. I spotted the Kingfisher too, twice perched on the log in the middle of the lake, unfortunately to brief for me to grab my camera. Will definitely be back...
