Excellent accommodation advertised! Alas we did not receive the advertised high standard! We had a fully loaded lodge that came with dish washer and washing machine, bit annoyed with the £100 deposit that we needed to pay upon arrival due to booking with booking.com! (Members pay 0.1p)The reply was read the small print !!We scrapped the amount together otherwise our whole trip would have been for naught as it was made very clear no deposits no stay .Upon entering the house / lodge we decided to damage check the whole place so we didn’t get blamed and lose our £100 , this is where the experience and quality of WBCC fell well short ! The entire place was dusty and thick cobwebs hung from the ceilings and fixtures this actively caused my asthma to flare up to the extent I needed an emergency prescription for a new inhaler , there were multiple stains on work surfaces and soft furnishings, the hot water tap in the bathroom was a trickle and the lighting that should have been sufficient in the bathroom wasn’t due to the amount of dead bugs covering them. The swimming pool changing rooms were unclean and the muddy cold water you walk through bare foot to gain entry to the pool was just nasty! My bed pillows were that soft that they needed to be in a ‘headlock’ to get anything like support from them , the dressing table was damaged on the surrounding trim so that it snagged our clothes and skin. The only positives were that the Staff are friendly and helpful and the club has excellent activities like a large pool and gym just unclean . The kids and my other half all loved following the peacocks around and spotting them in the trees and on the roofs along with the ducks . We paid a huge amount for this break upon recommendation from an owner yet this experience has left them questioning their purchase and red faced due to our experience. Management visited us and apologised, all in all he gave a good speech about being new and hadn’t checked all of the rooms and houses yet but his personality fell short when he asked to speak to us upon check out (10:30) only to find he didn’t start work that day until 13:30 so much for the customer service from the management. In summary I feel diamond resorts need to sort this club out soon or it will quickly nose dive never to recover as people will not pay for the shoddy standard we have...
Read morePossibly one of the strangest places we have stayed in a while. Luckily I read load of reviews so had some idea of what to expect, one described it as an old peoples home which seemed pretty apt. I got apocalyptic vibes, like it had closed down but they forgot to tell the staff…..We arrived early so they said we could use the leisure centre while we wait so off to the pool we went. The receptionist there honestly looked shocked to see someone, she took a bit of persuading to let us in, we didn’t have our room number and we didn’t have the exact change for the towels (who doesn’t have a card machine these days??) but we got in and enjoyed a swim in a very warm pool. It was tatty but clean, the jacuzzi wasn’t working through our stay.|When we got back to check in I asked about the restaurant. There’s a massive sign out front saying restaurant, there’s signs all over the place for the restaurant. There is even a sign on a door in the reception that says ‘restaurant’ But don’t be fooled, there isn’t one. It’s like they hoped if they don’t mention it you won’t notice it’s not there anymore.|We were staying in an apartment round the back of the main building. It was clean but nothing like the pictures and not what we had expected. It was stuffy and I went straight to open up the big windows in the living space to get some air in. We couldn’t find a key and when we called reception they said they had to stay locked due to “renovation work” of which we saw none…nothing but tumbleweed…|It felt like we had come to stay in a well lived in council flat, where the tenant had moved out and left some of their kitchen equipment behind. It had a bottle opener but no glasses.|We went out for dinner (highly recommend The Bell Inn, Parkham), and came home and sat in bed (the windows opened in there) with a mug of wine and switched on the TV. We soon discovered it only had a few channels that worked, so Rising Damp it was. |It would be really nice to see this place buzzing, it’s such a lovely spot and really nice gardens, it has so much potential but currently lacks personality and there are so many missed opportunities to make money here you can’t help wonder if they are...
Read moreI always try and book a pre Xmas stay somewhere, with my children . I came across Woodford Bridge on a booking site , and it seemed to offer great value for money so I thought why not. There are some positives and negatives which I ll list below.Arrived on a dark and gloomy Tues evening, the roads are not particularly great , potholes galore in the area. In the dark its quite scary roads too, in the middle of nowhere !!Check in was straightforward, nice friendly staff , however I found they have a tendency to talk amongst themselves and leave you waiting for too long before saying " can I help you "?Apartment was very clean , modern and warm. Incredibly happy with the size of it. Easy location to the games room for my boys, which they enjoyed very much, the pool table and table tennis. However the lighting is not great around the steps , and also the warning paint on edges of steps have worn off , so I had to be very careful walking back to apt in the dark.Used swimming facilities , nice , clean , quiet . The other facilities looked good . Went to the pub on site one night. Lovely little place , although totally devoid of atmosphere, hopefully better at weekend when live music on. They definitely need something. Prices of wine extortionate 175ml for 7.25 . I had to contact reception as the seal around the oven was coming off, did this in the morning before we went to atlantic village. On our return it was still hanging off, so had to contact reception again. Although I really liked the apt , there are a couple of improvements needed I feel. Firstly I could not find a chopping board or fish slice in the kitchen. As a single female with 2 children I also did nt feel safe as the apts can be accessed by anyone , there needs to be a key card reader on the entrance to the block , not just the apt door.Overall , it was a nice enough stay but I Don t think we d return. Probably much nicer in the Summer , and more going...
