This is the worst rental I have ever stayed in. Completely filthy. It looks like it is rarely cleaned, there were thick cobwebs all over the property. I was told by Alex, the landlady, that it was lovely and warm, massive lie, it went down to 13°c inside the room when it was -1°c outside. The heating and insulation is non existent. There are gaps in the timber and door that you can see light through. The mixer shower didn't work. The cold did not come through so I had to wait for the scolding hot water to run out and then I'd have about 90 seconds of temperate water before it completely ran out and was freezing cold. This was for 2 months and she was informed, just didn't care. She entered the property whikst I was at work without prior notice. I noticed someone had been in and messaged asking if it was Alex, she only responded when I threatened to call the police. She came to the property on the weekend and said 'sorry I didnt inform you I entered the property, I didn't think I needed permission to enter my own property'!! Yes you do Alex, there's actually laws about it. Then because she didnt like my response she asked for the vinyl player and removed it from my rental unit, even though it was advertised as the music room, no music without the vinyl player. She then just became a nuisance, constantly loitering around the property with friends, drinking and smoking who knows what. Using the jet wash on the weekends from 8-10am. To summarise, not only was the unit not fit for human habitation but the landlady is absolutely vile and toxic. Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere.

There are three rental cottages on the same plot. None of them has the name displayed so finding the right one, especially with no arrival instructions, was a little challenging! We eventually found the Wackery, a quirky little barn conversion pieced together with reclaimed items. There’s a fine line between rustic and run down and this definitely crosses that line. Overall the property was OK but there were cobwebs in the bathroom and some peeling, rusting cabinets. The kitchen was well equipped with a good oven, dishwasher and washing machine but there were no oven gloves or tea towels. There is a lovely large patio and lawn but some of the furniture was very neglected. The armrest of one chair kept falling off and the little table by the firepit was so rusted and wobbly it was barely useable. There was also a disgusting pot full of cigarette butts on the main table suggesting the place hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival. It says to use the logs provided for the firepit but they were so damp and rotten it was virtually impossible to light, especially without any firelighters or kindling. A bit of attention to detail and a few small fixes would make this a charming place to stay. As it stands, it isn’t worth the price tag of £144 a night.

There was mould and damp in the corners of the building, as well as the floor in many areas, you could smell the damp and mould. As seen in these pictures. There are gaps in the corners of the building, where draft comes in, making it even colder. Even with my own heater that i provided it was still cold. There heater started melting the plug socket. There are also huge gaps in the ceiling towards the attic. There is only plasterboard on brick with no insulation. This coverted shed is not appropriate as a rental. I left two days into the weeks rental.

Property is sign posted as Prestwick cottages not Prestwick Oak which is confusing, when arriving at the property there are different buildings which are unmarked (more confusing). We accidentally put a bag into the wrong accommodation (also no signs to distinguish each property) and were scolded very rudely by Alex for the unintentional mistake. We were in the big house, where the sofa bed couldn't be folded out without hitting a fixed dining table (bed then blocked transit completely throughout the property). Sofa bed was dirty with crumbs, stains and kids books within when we opened it. No bedding was provided for this despite booking for 5 adults and there only being 2 other double beds. The ground floor bed was broken and propped up with bricks underneath which made for an uncomfortable night. When calling Alex to apologise again for the mix up and ask if the property had been cleaned we were met with abuse and the threat of moving us out without refund. The following day she sped into the drive way as we were waiting for a taxi to attend a wedding and asked "are you the rude Scotsman" (we had not been rude, simply made our dissatisfaction known) completely looking down her nose at us for where we had come from. Our nationality doesn't mean we don't expect cleanliness. I wish I had filmed what happened next but she locked us out of the property (filled with our belongings) and belittled us to the point I could have screamed at her. The police were called as a result of this incident as we feared for our property while we were away. She proceeded to observe the call to the authorities and threw the keys in our face. Having spoken to other residents of the accomodation at the time there were other cleanliness complaints regarding out of date milk wet laundry in washing machines among others. If you don't believe me about her nature, search The big O Dragons Den on YouTube (minute 5 onwards is the best). This is Alex, the host of the property who may be as vile to you as she was to the Dragons and my family. The character and attitude of this host is so appalling I could barely believe it. Rather than her apologising for our dissatisfaction, she threatened and screamed. Do yourself a favour and don't give this awful woman your hard...
