We recently stayed at Bluewood Lodges for three nights as part of our honeymoon. While we had an enjoyable time overall and the lodge itself was lovely and peaceful, there were a few disappointing aspects that we feel are worth mentioning.

We had informed the team that this was our honeymoon and decided to treat ourselves to the £85 hamper. Naturally, we expected something a little special - perhaps a complimentary bottle of Prosecco or even a simple touch like rose petals on the bed. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgement of the occasion at all, which felt like a missed opportunity to make the stay more memorable. To add to that, the hamper seemed to consist mostly of items from the local Co-op, which really didn’t justify the steep price tag.

The hot tub was another letdown. The Bluetooth speaker didn’t work, and despite messaging the 24-hour contact number, no one even read the message- let alone responded-over the course of our entire stay. One side of the jets wasn’t working, and the ones that did work constantly came loose, so we were regularly screwing them back in while trying to relax.

Inside the lodge, a few basic amenities were missing. There was no chopping board, scales, or mixing bowls, which made cooking slightly frustrating. We were also only provided with one towel each for the whole stay-not ideal when you're using both the shower and the hot tub.

The bathroom itself could use some improvement too. The shower head wouldn’t stay upright unless positioned very high, and the sink was so small that it filled up quickly, making basic tasks like brushing teeth or washing your face awkward.

Lastly, although the listing mentioned a gate at the front of the lodge, there wasn’t one. As we had our dogs with us, we had to improvise our own barrier to stop them from wandering off when we were outside.

All in all, we did enjoy our time and the location is beautiful, but there are quite a few small issues that added up and took away from the experience-especially considering the price and the occasion. A few thoughtful touches and better maintenance would...

Myself and partner booked the duet lodge for our 10th Anniversary.

We stayed Friday to Friday.

Pros Amazing views and sunset views Almost spot loss lodge

Great hot tub

Decor and furniture is high quality and nice

Sheep right out side lodge

Good location

Friendly staff

Good amenities with dishwasher and washing machine

Central heating was amazing and much appreciated when the snow came!

Cons WiFi was non existent, so we couldn't watch Netflix on the TV or work. We're self employed so was a big thing for us. We went through over 30gb of data on our phones to be able to work. When mentioned to the staff via text as reception is only open on Fridays, they said they would restart the WiFi, when we told them it didn't help, they just stopped replying. So no resolution.

Only two bath towels, this was a pain when being in the hot tub and wanting to go straight in the shower but the towels are wet and smelt of chlorine from the hot tub. Either include extra towels or advise customers before hand, we would have bought our own if we knew.

This isn't something that can be changed but an observation. As the hot tub is inset into the decking, the whole lodge hums constantly. Its parictualy bad when sleeping as it comes though the floor and mattress straight into your ear.

Extractor fan in the bathroom was thick with dust, everywhere else was emaculate so seems strange this has been missed for what must be months due to how thick it was.

Mattress is quite hard.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend and come back. Just need to work on the WiFi for...

We have just arrived home after a 3 night break. Starting with the positives; the location is perfect and gives easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. The park itself is also nice, quite small and quiet with a good lay out. We stayed in Lodge 9 (Kingham Lodge) and whilst the lodge was nice and spacious it felt rather tired and needed a bit of TLC. The decking area was ok but had several bits of rotten wood as did the facias on the lodge itself, its tried to be patched up but really needs replacing. Inside the lodge there was a large stain on the rug, which didn't look great (again an easy enough fix), the whole lodge felt like it needed a lick of paint and updating a bit. There was a slight musty smell throughout also and whilst I appreciate it was a dog friendly accommodation we have stayed in many dog friendly lodges that smelt clean and fresh! I think carpets in the bedrooms and fabric sofas didn't help, in my experience wood/laminate type flooring and leather sofas with throws (that you can wash) works so much better in pet accommodation. The beds were comfortable enough but the kids beds only had one pillow each that were flat as a pancake! Lastly the hot tub kept having the jets come loose that we kept having to put back into place. All in all it has the ability to be amazing and I am sure other lodges on the site may be a lot better, but we cant help but feel a little disappointed with the...

We stay at Bluewood Lodges for 4 nights. Finding the place was very simple as I just followed Google Maps (Im not sponsored) and it lead me straight to it. As it was during the COVID-19 pandemic, the checking in was unique. They called on the day to obtain guest details and when you arrive, you stay in your vehicle and they provide you with their welcome booklet and keys - and some additional information. There are about 30 homes (with various no. rooms and layouts. Oh also, they all have working spa's which the staff test daily! a great team and good on hygiene. It is conveniently located within driving distances to nearby towns such as Kingham, Bourton-on-the-Water, Bledington, and Chipping Norton to name a few. Now why did I give it 4 stars? The place itself is very nice and felt comfortable. My only annoyances are the cleanliness needs a bit more improvement (considering its during the COVID period), the mattress for the ensuite really needed a replacement as I was sinking into it. The bathrooms can do with a bit of TCL especially with its shower unit and drainage. And also, would be good to have a more improved lighting arrangement. But overall, we enjoyed the staycation and would visit it again!

We had a great stay here this weekend. The lodge had fantastic views of the Cotswold countryside, and the hot tub overlooked these which made soaking a very enjoyable experience. We got complimentary drinks on arrival and the receptionist was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Only negatives I would say was the lack of signage to indicate where groups of numbered lodges were - there were many intertwining roads in the park which made our lodge very difficult to locate on a wet and stormy night returning from a meal out in Chipping Norton. Signage would have really helped. Also, the wifi was essentially non-existent in our lodge despite clear advertisement of unlimited wifi throughout the park. These two points did not detract enough from what was a lovely stay for me to reduce from 5 stars. Location was good, was in the middle of nowhere so peaceful and quiet, but only a 10 minute drive from Chipping Norton which has all the things you need including some very nice pubs and restraunts :) Will definitely be back and can definitely recommend this park to stay at.
