This is one of the previous Corps of Engineers campgrounds that was turned over to Bartow county. I was not pleased with the county for several reasons. First of all their reservations website is pitiful. When I called them it took a couple tries before I got somebody who was helpful and made reservations on the phone. Their check out time is 11:00 a.m. and check in time is 3:00 p.m.. presumably four hours to clean the sites between campers, but the two days I was there nobody cleaned anything. When we got to our campsite the fire pit was full of trash. In the site next to us, which is the one my friend was supposed to come in and rent the next day, there was a pile of bacon grease on the table. When I told the attendant that my friend was coming, when we checked in she "graciously" told me she would let her in at 1:30. She got there at noon, and the lady would not let her in. There was hardly anybody there nor any reason for this. She would not let her even Park the rig in the campground until 1:30 but directed us to a boat ramp on the other side of the bridge. So we went over there and it was also a campground run by the same people. We had to go in through the campground gate to get to the boat ramp. We told the guy our situation and he said he would have let her into his campground at noon. Finally, the bathrooms were dirty, from what I could see. There were no lights in the shower part, although what I could see looked dirty. I had to shower by the ambient light that came in through the bathroom part of the bath house, and it was pretty dark. The sites are very small and many are very unlevel. The one with the bacon grease had tree roots breaking up the asphalt creating large mounds. All In all, I do...
Read moreWorst experience ever! We were misinformed as to when we could get into the campground, the grounds close at 10pm and we knew with our long drive we would be cutting it close. I called the campground office and informed the woman working of our concern about getting in after 10pm and she reassured me (more than once) that we would still be able to get into our spot when we arrived....Well, we arrived at 10:10 pm and no such luck....after speaking to the campground supervisor (who was extremely rude) he informed us that there was no way he could let us in. In fact, he told us that once the gate is closed at 10, there was no way to even open it at all until 8am! I call BS and furthermore that seems extremely unsafe, what if there is an emergency and we had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night, or what if police officers needed to get into the campground for an emergency??!! Either way after driving 14 hours straight there from southern Florida only to be turned away and have to drive another 4 hours home to Nashville we were beside ourselves to say the least...Not to mention the best advice the supervisor would give us (in a super snide manner)was: well, I guess you can just sit there at the gate until 8am...wow, thanks...avoid avoid...
Read moreWe had a fantastic weekend stay at Clark Creek North Campground!
This smaller campground is a hidden gem with some amazing waterfront campsites that offer peaceful morning views and a relaxing atmosphere—especially in the evenings.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The facilities were decently kept, and the restrooms and dump stations are within easy access to most sites.
The only downside was that the cove in front of the campsites got a bit busy during the day with boaters and jet skis, but that’s understandable given the great location.
All in all, it's a solid 5 out of 5 from us. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful lakeside camping experience close to nature but not too...
