Staff was friendly and helpful, and we've stayed twice with them in 7 years. Unfortunately, the issues don't change. They seem to always mess up our reservations, so confirming and being persistent may be your best option.
First, the room options are very limited. They have a really small number of pet-friendly rooms, so few that we barely got a reservation for 2 out of the 5 nights we would be staying over a month in advance. There are only so many family rooms, so in some instances you may have to stay off base with a memorandum for non-availability when you travel. For such a big base, and with the nearby lot being undeveloped, there aren't as many rooms as they may need sometimes.
The rooms themselves are dated. Everything works but doesn't have that "fresh" feeling you hope for. There are basically no outlets for you to use and you really have to search and resort to ones you with you didn't have to (like the one behind the microwave). There is almost no storage for bags or items, and counter space is very limited. A family of two and a pet may be comfortable, but a family of four would feel very cramped.
Everything was clean, and we didn't have any issues with bugs. The room came fully furnished with cutlery, plates/cups/bowls, household amenities, etc.
Their cleaning schedule is off, for some reason. You have to check in before 1800, and check out is before 1100. But at 1400, none of the available family rooms were clean (despite a month's notice and reservation) and we had to get a disabled-accessible room instead. Our other option was to wait 2-3 hours before checking in, to get the room we reserved. When we arrived we only saw one maid out and about.
Unfortunately it's more or less required for those traveling on official business. It could be a lot better, but without them committing to a major, costly renovation... it does the job. If you aren't traveling on orders, stay elsewhere. There are better...
Read moreI was sitting on couch watching TV when my wife and I saw a good size mouse run from the bedroom to the kitchen area. Caught me by surprise when my wife jumped on top of the couch and started screaming. Luckily my 13 year old daughter was in the shower. I was moved to another room only to be awakened by my daughter at 2:30am to tell me there was a mouse in the kitchen area. I turned on the light and there was a mouse chewing open a peanut butter packet that was on the kitchen counter. I realized there was a mouse trap behind the entertainment system so i grabbed it and put cheese and peanut butter and placed it on the ground near the cabinets.I had my daughter go sleep in the bedroom and i stayed on the sofa bed. a few minutes later i saw the mouse bite the trap and drag it about 3 feet under a chair. I have video of the mouse on the counter but not it moving the trap. The trap did not catch the mouse. They seem to know what a trap is. It was a pretty healthy one.
SOOO, if you dont mind paying a decent price for a room that you have to share with mice, then this is your place. Make sure you keep all your food...
Read moreFor around a month, we have stayed in 3, pet friendly, TLF rooms. We’ve changed rooms due to our travels between two cities. Although the rooms are somewhat outdated as far as furniture/appeal goes (which is expected for most Air Force TLF), our stay overall has been good. The rooms are clean, the appliances are updated, the staff (maintenance/front desk/housekeeping) are nice, and the location on base is great (right down the street from the BX/commissary). I have barely been able to hear neighbors, I think maybe once but it was very, very faint. The only downfall of these rooms is the water pressure/temperature in the shower. In each room, we’ve had issues with the water. The water switches between hot/cold and in our first room, the pressure was too hard, but in our last room, the pressure wasn’t good. Other than the water issue, everything else has been good! Our dog likes all the walking paths/open spaces to explore. The park at the TLF is new and seems nice! In addition, the laundry rooms are abundant. It always is what you make out of it, but we had a...
