NEVER EVER to return!!! This was the first weekend I took my kids to Silver Lake Campground since the pandemic and I was so disappointed. I have fond memories of this place but they have all been replaced by this weekend's experience. I realized that the prices were going to be higher but $35 per vehicle and only covers 2 people so you have to pay an additional $2 per person after that. We stayed 2 days so payed $74 since there were 3 of us. Then ofcourse was the $15 per pole for fishing. Both of my kids fished so an additional $30 there. Everything there is super expensive as well. A bag of ice is $5 but not to worry because they were out anyway. They must have also not paid whoever cleans the place because it was filthy! The portapotties were overflowing and disgusting!!! The roads to the campgrounds were almost impossible to traverse! Incredibly rocky and you could tell they had not been maintained in a long time. Being who we are we tried to make the best of it but the last straw came at the end when we were leaving. Apparently you have to check out exactly at 11 am because if you over by 15 minutes like we did they charge you an additional $20! The problem is that there is a LINE of cars in front of us that they are creating while checking you out! How is that fair?? The only words that come to mind are money hungry crooks! I actually thought the man that was charging me at the end was joking but apparently he must be living in the poor house because this type of extortion can only be done by the super greedy or someone dying of hunger! To hell with this place! Save yourself the money and aggrevation people. This is NOT a family place anymore!! They do NOT care either. Notice how many similar reviews to mine there are and they NEVER address a single one! Because they know they are wrong but...
Read moreThe area is beautiful, lots of space available. The downfall of our trip was the unprofessionalism of the staff that operate the entrance to the site. We are a military family that travelled with our small children and dogs for a quick getaway for the 4th of July. After 2.5 hours of driving we arrive to only realize it is a cash only location. My husband politely asked if he could drop myself and my children to the site then return with cash. Simply because our children were tired, crying and the dogs needing to be let out. We were met with a rude no and a long story of how he was burned by others before. While letting the dogs out to pee prior to driving another 20 miles to get cash, an older gentleman who claimed was “his property” in a work vest continued to be abrasive in his approach after asking him to refrain from speaking to me. He stated “you’re trespassing, you and your dogs” simply to be difficult. Completely unprofessional and if you ever feel the need to express your dissatisfaction with your job and your supervisors, the visitors and customers who contribute to the continued accessibility of the campground with funding, should not be made aware of that. Very displeased with the employees at this campground, never in my life have I had to defend myself and my family the way I had to today. After 20 years of service to our country, both veterans and on a holiday such as today...one would expect much more than this. Would be a much better establishment without this employee. *just finished reading some of the reviews which I should have read earlier, it’s no surprise I had the experience I had today! Everyone else seems to have the same issue! EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! The owners and supervisors of this place should really deal with this ongoing issue. Poor way to...
Read moreI find the other reviews of Silver Campground surprising. My husband and I had a great stay. We stayed July 2- 5th. It was a nice getaway away from the summer heat. The area is beautiful and surrounded by trees. Wild horses frequent the campground- such a neat thing to see. The dispersed/tent camping was spacious and many had fire pits and tables. In the tent camping areas there were porta potties throughout. There is even a main area for showers/restrooms. My husband and I didn’t check those out because we were in the rv sites. The rv sites were not bad. Some more leveled than others, by that can be common. The inner loop of rv sites that surround the restroom/ shower area were crowded. But we stayed along the outer loop and those were decently spread out. Our back was to the open field - it was nice. I will mention the outer ring of rv sites don’t have sewer hookup. Down fall for us but not terrible as they do have a main dump site you can pull up to. The lake is small and moss filled. We didn’t catch a fish or get one bite, but we did see others catching fish. Just wasn’t our luck I guess. There is quite a bit of trash around the lake and campground. So sad to see. We would pick up trash as we walked our dogs. There were trash receptacles in the front of the camp sites and trash was collected daily. We liked that. Our neighbors were very nice and down to earth. Respectful. That’s always nice to be around like minded campers. I will mention we had T-Mobile elder ice and didn’t get any service. There was one area by the lake that would get one bar. Our truck had WiFi and we were able to use that to get service. Also the front office (male) wasnt the most polite, but the two females we encountered were very nice. It wasn’t a bad stay and we...
