Contrast Three RV Parks (1) Branson Missouri: A couple paid for seven nights for their rv to get a cheaper rate. Two days later there was a death in the family. The manager refunded the five days not used and also aided them in their departure. (2) My brother –in-law reserved a nine day stay for me and my wife as well as a one month stay for himself in a park at Lake City. My wife got a bad report from her mammogram and needed additional testing and a biopsy making a cancelation necessary. The manager related, “Don’t worry about a thing. We will not charge you a cancelation fee for the two reservations. Just go and take care of your little sister.” (3) I reserved two spots for myself and my brother-in-law at the Alamosa KOA for one night. I was not able to get anyone on the phone in the morning hours and had to leave a message. Later a lady contacted me for the reservations. We discussed the possibility of rescheduling in case there was a problem on the road. Two days later I had to cancel the reservation so my wife could have more tests run to check for cancer. Again I could not get anyone on the phone that morning and left a message. Within an hour my reservations were canceled but they kept the entire fee for the two spots. Yes, it was one and a half days before we were to be there. I was able to get a lady on the phone late that afternoon. She was kind but did not have any authority to do anything. I gave her my phone number and she said she would give it to the women in charge so she could call me. You guessed it, no call. I really wanted to see about rescheduling at a later time if my wife’s testing turns out not to be so bad. They made $86+ for absolutely nothing. How do these people sleep? The Bible says it best, “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” Suggestions: (1) Never reserve an RV slot at the Alamosa KOA. (2) Never stay at the Alamosa KOA (3) Don’t expect any compassion if you have a difficult...
Read moreOne of the best Koas I've been to. We booked a cabin per usual and were pleased as punch to have little fences for privacy between the different cabins and tent lots. That helps a lot with other people's smoke, flashlights, visibility and even a bit the noise. Every tent lot had a little grill as well as a fire pit. Our cabin had a porch swing, Adirondack chairs for the fire pit, a nice table with chairs for eating outside, and even was equipped with a ceiling fan and a portable Radiator to be ready for any weather. The bunk bed was easy to access and the mattresses were decent for a cabin. Power outlets and best thing was a MINI FRIDGE in the cabin.
Bathrooms: two options. Two toilets on the north end easily accessible to the cabins and some tent lots. Or a bigger bathhouse attached to the office on the south end. Totally enough.
What stood out was the general store and the events. They would host things like a pancake breakfast or a grill party, popcorn etc and even send text alerts to the number on the booking about what was coming up or pertinent info on when to checkout etc. It was fab. There is a heated outdoor pool and even little areas for the kids to do a cart race and a nice pen with obstacles for dogs to run free.
Location is great, right off the highway before you get into Alamosa and easy access to a lot of activities from here. You don't hear the highway at least from the cabin sites in the back.
Store is super outfitted. They even have a pizzeria and you can order food for brekkie through dinner, or pickup fresh coffee in the morning.
Staff was incredible. Someone was always wandering around cleaning bathrooms, picking up the recently vacated campsites, chatting with you in the store or covered picnic area, or answering questions about good hikes nearby.
Will definitely come back here. Thanks for making such a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for families, couples, groups and solo travelers. You've done an...
Read moreI really wish I could give this place more stars! By far the best campground experience we have ever had. We prefer quiet, little campgrounds to rv parks, but decided a few amenities would be nice. I'm not sure where to start here. Upon arrival we were met truck side by a very nice lady who brought us right to our site. Never had to get out of the truck. She went through everything about the campground and asked if we had questions or needed anything to get started. Then she told us about the food they offered. We decided to order food from the campground. They delivered right to our site. Food was good, service was amazing. Campsites are huge and well spaced. They views of the mountains, and even the dunes, were quite nice as well. Everything, and I mean everything, in this campground was meticulously maintained, and every person we ran into that worked there was very nice. Restrooms were spotless. Playground was great for our 2 year old. Pool area was very clean and nicely set up. Saturday morning we decided to do the all you can eat pancake breakfast. Food was great but the service was exceptional!!! They treated my daughter to her first cup of hot chocolate and it was definitely a hit. They really went out of the way to make breakfast a fun and relaxing experience! I wish every campground was as friendly as this one. If you're in the Great Sand Dunes area, there isn't a better...
