Mind-blowing experience and the best highlight of our trip. I'm adding as many pictures as I can to show all our experiences. I will add a detailed review in sometime.
Let me break it down here -
Stay - We stayed at Spruce tent for 2 nights. Even though it wasn't glacier view, we could see a hint of glacier from our room. Lovely tent with amazing bed and heavy and warm blankets. Felt like a very safe area. Moose frequently access the trails so we're asked to be aware of surroundings.
Bedding - Both our nights were 50-55 degrees. So tent doesn't have any heating, but the blankets are really warm. They also give additional blankets if required. My husband generally feels cold, so he had his thermals ON and he was fine. He had to use beanie for head cover too.
Breakfast - Free hot breakfast everyday from 7:30am to 9:30am! Since we were vegetarian, we choose blueberry pancakes and hashbrowns on both days - consistently good! They also had fruits, cereals, coffee and hot chocolate. Paid soda and snacks also available.
Showers - There were 2 showers and we used it both times with the jacuzzi - no collissions!
Hot water jacuzzi - you could reserve 30 mins daily after 6:30pm. Amazing experience when temperatures are low. The jacuzzi pool was relatively clean (but unfortunately you could see insects floating - don't know if it's common).
Property managers - We had great chit-chat with Colleen and Laine (sorry if we misspelled). They were quite friendly and shared us their inspiring journeys. They gave us good pointers for local Alaska...
Read moreWhat a fantastic Alaskan experience! We were looking for something outside of the normal cabin/hotel (which we also did) and this gem of a place fit the bill. We reserved a Glacier View tent, and that’s what we got. The tent was clean and well organized, with a comfortable bed and warm blankets. We were there in late July, and the weather was not too cold, so we left the flap open and slept with just the screen. Waking up in the night and looking out over the glacier was like magic. The restrooms and showers were clean and convenient, and as with everything else, well laid out. The common area had great and scenic seating areas with a nice fire pit and cornhole game. They had board games if you want, plenty of snacks in the kitchen on the honor system, and two taps with good local beers for a relaxing evening. The common area is also the location for a fantastic breakfast cooked fresh. Great way to start the day! The staff and owners were awesome - a shoutout to Colleen, Lizzie, Audrey, and Mandy, but they weren’t the only ones. We were in Alaska, so the mother moose and her calf calmly grazing near the restroom shouldn’t have been a (pleasant) surprise. If I could give this fine little place six stars, I would. Since I can’t, five will have to do. If you’re looking for a pleasant and memorable experience, I couldn’t give Alpenglow a higher...
Read moreWhen Zac and I booked our adventure trip through MICA upon a random stop for coffee at MICA Mocha, Lena informed us of the Luxury camping at the same location. We were sold at “hot tub”. We showed up the next night for our stay, and were checked right in and given the tour by Colleen, who seemed to be running the show! The tents, which are just a short, rustic path walk away from the parking lot, are decorated very thoughtfully, complete with a lovely patio with comfy chairs. Our canvas tent, named Cottonwood, had a great view of the mountains right out the zipper door. The beds were unexpectedly comfortable. We were able to reserve our private spot in the cedar hottub that evening and take a hot shower right next to it. In the morning, we were served a wildly delicious pancake breakfast by Colleen. There were tons of snacks available, coffee and beer to drink and games to play; a fire pit and hammock. We couldn’t have felt more at home!
We also met the wonderful owner Mandy and her dog Mesa, who looked suspiciously similar to the two baby moose we saw with their mamma on the property as well.
What a genuinely...
