Mixed review, positive on Deadhorse Camp, but negative on Arctic Ocean Shuttle they offer.

Did not spend the night because we had our RV, but the staff here were very friendly and informative, especially Shane and Mike. The food (we ate two meals here) was very flavorful and buffet all you could eat. Appreciated that they had you put on booties over your shoes or boots to keep the perpetual grit out. Nothing fancy, but would rate the camp itself a 4 out of 5.

However, have to rate the Arctic Ocean Shuttle purchased through Deadhorse Camp as a 2 out of 5. This shuttle is the only way you can get to the Arctic Ocean because of security in the oil area of Prudhoe Bay. You have to book ahead at least 24 hours for a security check and book online. I expected the swarming clouds of mosquitos and got them. What I did not expect was the microphone not working so the tour guide had to sit near the middle and yell over the engine and road gravel noises. Too bad because he seemed knowledgeable when you could hear him. Did not expect filthy windows on the shuttle so you could not take good photos and when told to open the small windows at the top to use to take photos, they were broken and would not open large enough to put the lens through. I expected tight seating, but not so much that my 6'2" husband was crammed into a corner seat so badly his legs started cramping. Surprised once we got to the ocean to find the rocky shore littered with rusted barrels and debris. This was advertised as scheduled for two hours, but only lasted 1.5 hours. So we can mark it off the bucket list that we put our toes in the Arctic Ocean, but for $69 per person, could have been a much better experience if the shuttle had working equipment and more...

I seriously cannot believe some of the positive reviews. I have stayed in some rough places, even a barn in Austria, but this one is the worst. I am sure I reviewed this place right after my trip last July but I could not find it so her goes. It made the Coldfoot Camp in Coldfoot seem like a 5 star. No keys for the rooms. It was dirty over all but the room was clean enough with clean sheets. Community bathroom which normally would be OK, however when we arrived the mens room had 3 of the 4 urinals, sinks, toilets, and showers working. By morning one toilet worked (I might have ended that) and no showers or urinals worked but one sink did. If it was the only place I would say take what you get and be glad for a bed. There are better places to stay. Do Not Stay Here. I was on a motorcycle tour so I had no choice as it was pre arranged. This did piss me off since there are much better places for what I paid for the tour. The food next door was good, at least I liked it. The good part is it was nest to where we had to catch the bus for the Prudhoe Bay Tour and a dip in the Arctic Ocean. My buddy stayed at one of the other places that included a buffet and breakfast. Not cheap but he said it was a good stay. Try Aurora or...

It’s very windy and cool temps up there. June through July is a good time to go. ☺️. This is not a place to stop for long, so as soon as you get up there just start your way down. Expensive to stay overnight, unless it’s on oil company time. I slept in my car. I found a cafeteria with food at one of the big “hotels”, Asked a question or two and left. Spent about an hour in town. There was a parking spot just near the airport to camp by tent and car. Can park for a while. Again, very windy. Tight security. Can’t go to Prudhoe Bay without access code. On maps you can only go up to last 10 miles. It was difficult to get a lot of pictures because I was driving. The main gas station is east to find and operate. I visited a second hotel and the lady was direct and forward. I knew then that indoor housing was going to be expensive to come by. I took a nap in my cozy car and military issue sleeping bag near the airport. The sun never set. I woke up and left. Four stars because they didn’t make it easier to use a real bathroom. They did however, supply food and water for free, and made it easy to find gas. See Dalton Highway review for...

This facility has common bathroom and showers. There is no lock and key - so ur luggage and stuff is in a room which can not be locked. But. . There are couple of factors that overrule everything about restrooms and showers. 1. Jack: A personality you will meet at tegisterstion for shuttle- he drives that shuttle. Jack is backbone of your good experience here - a living encyclopedia of this area , wildlife and history - he is not only humorous, funny, witty but also a honest human being. An asset for this business. 2. Kitchen: 20 USD for Dinner Buffet gives you well cooked options for supper. 3. Rooms are neat and no smell no complaints. I strongly recommend this business

Rooms are expensive. Very well maintained. 2 beds in a room. Toilets, Bathrooms, laundry, and shower rooms are shared and are down the hallway. They have a cafe and you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a reasonable cost. Lunch buffet is about 20$. You need to reserve the arctic shuttle To visit The arctic Ocean n see The oil fields. The arctic shuttle leaves from here two times a day. There are a couple of lodges available in Prudhoe Bay. You may want to check there before booking Deadhorse camp. The coldfoot and deadhorse camp are managed by the same authorities.
