So me and my family stayed here for a week in June which is a busy time. They were training a new person on checkin so I checked in for a week the trainee checked me in wrong and the trainer had to correct it.this was not a big deal but after being on the road for weeks and this being our final destination I was a bit exhausted and did not double check my checkin paperwork. Which would be an issue later. The park is pretty well kept but the rules for pets are not strictly enforced, forenstance people let thier dogs poop outside of the doggie area and don't clean up after and people had thier dog tied up unattended so they just bark and try to come at you with no one around. They location is great next to the river, the bugs were very low in the area. The store/gas station next door is a super big plus. They have deli in the store and the prices are good. The showers and bathrooms are maintained well, except the grounds keeper has dog and it roams freely, I don't have a issue with dogs but I do have a issue with dogs I don't know. The last day of our stay I went to talk to the host and she informed me i had an hour to leave cause someone was coming for that spot. I reminded her of when I checked in and the fiasco that happened and she remembered but said well I'm sorry I can give you another site but you have a hour to move your rig. I already had a appt. So I had to have my husband move everything( kids, pets, rig, unhook) instead of us going to our previous appt. Then they charged my husband a higher price per night and the site they put us at the TV didn't work and they couldn't fix it and never asked if we wanted to move to an empty spot. Since it was our last night and had tons of things to do before we left I didn't make a fuss. The whole rest of our stay was wonderful just those few things made a huge impact on disrupting...
Read moreFor once in a long time on our journey through Alaska, the campground (CG) was not right off the highway. We followed our RV GPS to the Badger Road exit and found the CG tucked back from the main road. Check-in was busy but quick. We were assigned pull-through site 133D with full hookups and 50 AMP. This site has special routing instructions—staff had us drive a few hundred yards down Old Badger Road, which runs adjacent to the CG, to enter through the back KOA gate. From there, it was an easy approach into our site. Site 133D is a KOA Patio site with a deluxe Trex deck, outdoor furniture, propane fire pit, and a Weber propane grill with tools. The gravel pad was long enough for our 40’ toy hauler and F450, with room to put down our rear patio. On arrival, the CG WiFi was unusable, but we got an email update that they were working on it. A later speed test showed 4.97 Mbps download—good enough for email and light browsing. Starlink worked but was slower than usual in this area despite a clear sky view. We got one bar on both Verizon and T-Mobile. This is a well-run KOA, with staff constantly mowing, cleaning, and maintaining the grounds. During our stay, several RV caravans came through—they had their own designated area and even buses for tours. The CG has spaces for all types of campers, from tents to big rigs. There’s a laundry facility, two fenced dog parks, swing benches by the river, and plenty of space to walk your dog. All in all, this is one of the best private CGs we’ve stayed at. If you need a great vet while in the area, we highly recommend Dr. Dawn Brown at North Pole Veterinary Hospital. They are an AAHA accredited clinic and we’ sure all the vets are great, but we definitely had a wonderful experience with Dr. Brown during our appointment with our two Braque's. The CG made an excellent base for exploring the...
Read moreMultiple night stay. We had a pull through with plenty of room for our TT and tow vehicle. Nice picnic table, grass strips between each site, level with a gravel surface. Sewer is at the end of the site that could require sewer hose extensions. Our rig was small but to reach, we had to park at the very end of the site. Laundry room was clean, plenty of washers/dryers but expensive - probably the second most expensive so far on our four month trip. Plenty of areas to walk your pets and the dog park was nice. The front section of the Park was closed off - they were starting to winterize that area. In our section, we had a large bath house - his and her bathrooms on one side (small just two urinals, two toilets, and four sinks for the men). On the back side of the building were seven individual shower rooms but during our stay, only four were available for use. I say this because every time we walked our dog, showers 2, 3, and 4 were occupied. We walked our dog randomly throughout the day and would walk past the shower rooms on our way to our site. Every time, no matter the time, 2, 3, and 4 were occupied. I suspect they were occupied to either reduce daily cleaning, there were issues that made them unusable or they had been winterized. If you have base access, Fort Wainwright is just a few miles down the road. Go into North Pole near the Safeway and you find a nice car wash that most RVs could fit in,. Nice store, seems well stocked and the gas station at the entrance has ice and during the week, has sandwiches to order. We camped at Fairbanks / Chena River KOA in a...
