This was the trip of our lifetime and we can’t wait to return. I read about Frontier Village as an ideal location for aurora viewing, but we had no idea the treats we were in for. David and Jasmine are the very best hosts. Despite his family being sick, David went above and beyond to help us see the lights, including calling us and visiting our cabin to alert us about the lights. He even called me on our drive down to Denali to let us know that there was likely going to be an amazing geomagnetic storm that night and we needed to go out. He is the most passionate aurora chaser, which was so evident as he educated me about the website to follow and the graphs to track to know when to go out. We weren’t even staying at FV that night. Imagine that kind of host and then think even better! That’s David and Jasmine. Thanks to David, my family and I were treated to an unimaginably stunning display of red, green, purple and yellow lights that night. I teared up, upon seeing them. I had waited my whole life to see them and they were beyond anything I had imagined. I went back out from 2-5 am and was treated again to the glory of aurora borealis, thanks to David. On our return to Frontier Village, David again texted me and said “go out now.” I was so overwhelmed by his kindness. As soon as we arrived to FV, we hopped out of the car and were treated to another magical display of brilliant green and purple lights. The entire sky lit up in a green cinnamon roll swirl of lights. David was filming the incredible display and just happened to film my family in the darkness. Afterwards he approached me and said, I just happened to “film the most epic family video.” I was so touched that he was willing to share his incredible film. If there are lights to be seen, he will get them for you. There’s a lovely path to walk on the property where we saw snowshoe hare and moose tracks. He educated us on the hares and the pregnant moose making her way around the property. There’s a beautiful bough-covered padded area to sit, decorated with ornaments. Our cabin was awesome and we can’t wait to return. It was so clean, extremely comfortable, and the snacks were a sweet bonus. David also helped us find a sled dog company to book a sled dog tour with. On top of their expert hospitality, I left some precious items at our cabin on the day of our departure. My husband called David early that morning, accidentally waking him up. David went above and beyond, walked to our cabin and began searching everywhere inside and out. He kindly said, “if they are here, I’ll find them”. He and I maintained communication for the next hour, at which point in time he let me know he had found them and was on his way to the airport to meet me before our flight. His brother pulled into their property and they immediately drove to the airport to meet me. Their kindness is unparalleled. David and Jasmine win all the prizes, get all the points, and showed us immeasurable kindness while we were there. We can’t wait to return to AK next year and hope to stay at Frontier Village again. All of our gratitude David and Jasmine, for making our trip the most memorable and being so passionate about helping us experience a life...
Read moreWe stayed in the Meandering Moose cabin for a week. We really enjoyed the little touches that the hosts provided - extra towels and linens, cleaning supplies for tidying up, and fresh eggs. We also appreciated the availability of coffee, sugar, condiments, some spices, marshmallows, bottled water, oatmeal packets, popcorn, apple cider packets, etc. Very thoughtful and nice, when you are away from home and want to make some homemade meals. ||The location is about a 15- minute drive to downtown Fairbanks and a little shorter to North Pole, AK. It is conveniently located within proximity of a number of restaurants, breweries, and among a number of outdoor activities. ||The location was quiet, and we enjoyed waking up to the rooster each morning. ||Overall, the cabin is well-appointed, albeit small. There are two items that I want to highlight. The loft has some fairly steep, carpeted stairs to access the main bedroom, and although there is a small handrail for a portion of the stairway, I found myself wanting a better hand hold, especially at the top of the stairs. For those with accessibility concerns, the couch on the main floor can be made into a bed. Once in the loft, you must mind your head on the railing side, as the ceiling is quite angled, and it is not easy to get into bed on the one side without stooping over. Perhaps some decoration or a different paint color on the low end of the ceiling would alert guests of the low-head room. We both bumped our head on it numerous times during the stay, and we knew it was there!||Note that there are no table or dining room chairs, so you have to eat while standing or while sitting on the couch, holding your plate. We made do, but a couple small folding tables that could be stored in the coat closet would have been appreciated.||Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the Meandering Moose and would definitely consider a return stay if our travels find us back in the Fairbanks area. We hope that you enjoy it as...
Read moreI went to Alaska to see the Northern Lights and the Alaska Ice Carving competition, but my trip was so much more thanks to David and Jasmine at the Frontier Village Airbnb we stayed at. | |It started prior to even booking the cabin. I had so many questions as it was the first time to Fairbanks, I bet David and I texted 200 times before I even left home. He was quick at responding and answered all of my questions and gave a lot of advise on clothing and other items |While we were there, the weather was not clear, it was cloudy and warm most of the time, yet David helped me to find the Northern Lights, this was not an easy task. It involved David taking time away from his family to take me for a drive at about midnight and not returning until about 5:30am, but we saw them. |Every day while we were there, David was giving us ideas of things to do and places to eat. Everything he suggested was very fun and loved every minute of it. |It was a VERY hard...
