An Unforgettable Stay at Kenai Riverfront Resort.
Our stay at Kenai Riverfront Resort, hosted by the incredible Jim and Cindy, was nothing short of extraordinary. This isn’t just a place to rest your head—it’s a full Alaskan adventure wrapped in warm hospitality and a deep love for the region’s natural beauty. We arrived with high expectations, but Jim and Cindy exceeded them in every way, turning our visit into a cherished memory. We came as guests and left feeling like lifelong friends.
Exceptional Hospitality Jim and Cindy’s warmth and genuine care set the tone for our entire stay. Their passion for Alaska shines through in every interaction, from sharing local insights to ensuring we felt right at home. They went above and beyond, always ready with a smile or a helping hand, making us feel like part of their extended family.
Prime Fishing Location The resort’s location on the Kenai River is a fisherman’s dream. Just steps from our accommodations, we were casting lines into pristine waters. The property features flat rock platforms with easy stair access, creating perfect spots to fish while soaking in the stunning river views. During our mid-August visit, the late-run sockeye salmon were running strong, with fish passing by every few seconds—an awe-inspiring sight! Jim, a seasoned angler, shared expert tips tailored to the river’s conditions and provided top-notch equipment and tackle. His guidance ensured we regularly hooked into fish with ease.
Impeccable Facilities The resort is a gem, blending comfort with the rugged charm of Alaska. The showers are modern and spotless, and the sauna was a delightful way to unwind after a day on the river. The grounds are meticulously maintained, offering a serene setting to relax. Whether we needed extra gear or a quick answer, Jim and Cindy were always there to assist with enthusiasm.
Unique Touches That Wow The little extras made our stay truly special. Jim and Cindy’s homemade espresso was a morning highlight, rivaling any coffee shop. Their “spaghetti ice cream” dessert was a fun and delicious surprise—don’t miss it! Cindy’s handcrafted flies were not only beautiful but also incredibly effective, helping us reel in fish after fish. Evenings by the fire pit, with its breathtaking river views, were pure magic. Plus, Jim’s expertise in cleaning and preserving our catch ensured we brought home perfectly prepared fish to share with family and friends.
Kenai Riverfront Resort is more than a destination—it’s an experience that captures the heart of Alaska. Jim and Cindy’s passion, the unbeatable location, and the thoughtful touches make this a must-visit for anyone seeking adventure and connection. We can’t...
Read moreWow, what a experience, just wish I could say it was good. Upon arrival, following instructions, we moved barrier from driveway, proceeded to office, there we only found a note on door. After calling number on note things got bad. It was our first encounter with the owner, who’s first words to us were,”I see you have infiltrated us”. Then to chew us out for moving the sign. After this we were taken on tour of his campgrounds, seemed nice enough, but quickly turned bad again. We were asked to sign paper with all his rules, hearing his comment, “no one reads anymore”. He seemed really proud of his fine print. During his tour he told me I would have to disarm, we had just came off the river from fishing, and in bear county I do carry a larger pistol than my every day carry. I also work in law Enforcement, which is enough reason in itself and allows me to carry in most places. He told me “if North Korea invaded he would holler for us, until then we would need to disarm”. It was during the obligatory tour we were informed of bath house hours, opened at 9:00 A.M., which if fishing is the middle of day, showers would be closed before returning from fishing. It was then we were told no water or sewer hookups available, and a lesson on pronunciation of the word “sauna”. We were instructed to pronounce his Finnish word correctly. We were giving a lesson on light switch, and pointed to cleaning supplies if we left restrooms dirty. After asking about hookups we were again told “ no one reads anymore, we could drive to Fred Meyers to dump”. He also wanted to charge us $100 for our tow vehicle, because it was against his rules. It was at this point it turned ugly, were told again to disarm or leave. We quickly agreed to leave upon refund of the four nights we had paid for, only to hear, “you have 5 minutes to leave or I will call Alaskan state troopers”. There were never any threats made against owner, and yes he violated my rights, yes we stopped payment on credit card, only to have owner lie more to take my $400.00 for not staying with this pompous owner. I will say great location, but not enough to overcome all the problems with owner. If you book here make sure you read the fine print. If you believe in 2nd amendment, pass...
Read moreKenai River Front Resort – Absolutely Incredible! Wow- where do I even start? Jim and Cindy are AMAZING hosts! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. This is true old-school hospitality- warm, genuine, and on a whole different level. They know Alaska inside and out and are eager to share their knowledge. You can tell they care deeply about their property and the pristine riverfront they call home. If you want to experience combat fishing and all the chaos that comes with it, this is not the place for you. But if you want space, peace, and the satisfaction of catching fish in a clean, well-kept environment, this is the spot. Trust me—you can’t unsee the mess some people leave behind in the river. Here, it’s the exact opposite: beautiful, respectful, and serene. And watching Jim filet a fish? It’s like watching an artist at work. I mean, I can filet a fish in a serviceable way, but Jim’s skill is next level! I just wonder- how many fish does a person have to handle to make it look that easy? Now, let’s talk about location, location, location! Being right on the Kenai River at a private campground was worth every penny. Waking up in the camper and stepping out to world-class fishing- just incredible. The fishing was phenomenal, and Jim’s knowledge of the fishery was invaluable when it came to navigating Alaska’s fishing regulations (which are far more complex than back home in Maine!). His guidance made everything stress-free and fun. Jim and Cindy even shared some incredible halibut and salmon recipes that turned our catch from Homer and the Kenai River into unforgettable meals. While I was unable to pry out his highly confidential, tried-and-true smoked salmon secrets, we are planning to visit again and try our luck next time! We even built a Kenai Riverfront Resort-inspired smoker to try and draw out some classified information- haha! All in all, our stay at Jim and Cindy’s campground was the highlight of our trip. So glad we found it! We can’t imagine landing in a better spot for our first trip to Alaska. Hope to see you both again in a year or two. Thanks for the incredible experience, Jim and Cindy! You guys...
