A little disorganized, meals are at their restaurant where a meal is served, no choices, no schedule for what is served. Drinks while staying at the lodge are not easy to get. No in room fridge for your own sodas. Dinner the food was excellent. Service for dining needs improvement. Guides were knowledgeable about sockeye but not Kings. They forgot one of my fish boxes going to the airport. Recommend going to Brooks Falls, expensive but worth it. Need to improve on service. They really need hiking or side trips.

The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly with a positive attitude. Steak night is amazing. Cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. Breakfast is just as good, and the employees do everything possible to make your stay perfect. There's a lot of improvements going on. Wifi in the cabins can be tricky to get right now. They don't have cheap towels. They are the good ones you would use at home. Bed was comfortable. Nice quiet area on the river. Thanks to everyone here for a great stay.

King Salmon Lodge understands its customers want one or both of two things: guided salmon fishing from the lodge and/or a jumping off place before heading to Katmai National Park. Their staff know this mission and are ready and able to make it happen. I was 1 of only 2 lady guests during our 3 night stay, and yet staff and clients (mostly men) went out of their way to make me feel included and catered to. I do not fish. I had not planned to fish, and despite welcoming invitations, I WAS NOT gonna fish. I was quite content to lurk at the lodge, and the public lounging area is a cozy spot. I did homework on the empty dining hall tables, chatted idly to staff, and rested in my room while hubby caught fish. In short, for non fishing folk, you will be fine. For fishing folk, the guides are knowledgeable, will use their knowledge to meet your fishing goals, are flexible about how long on the river and what you want to catch, and are easy to chat with. Virtually all staff at the lodge perform multiple roles. Jordan greets guests as they arrive, helps with luggage, bartends, and handles payroll. Brandon is chef, and a fine one at that, but will take a guest into town as needs be. Speaking of food, dinners in particular are nicely presented, filling, and prepared well. Hyrum is General Manager, but might guide a fishing trip, or be present in dining area making sure all is well. The staff clearly are comfortable with each other, communicate well, and are focused on making sure guests feel seen and heard. We appreciated the courtesy and helpfulness we received, like delivering our our frozen fish and a piece of luggage to the airport after we had checked out, flew to Brooks Lodge, then arrived at the airport to catch another flight. Just talk with staff so they understand your needs, and they will do their utmost to make it easy. Were he to return to Alaska, my husband would gladly...

I stayed at the King Salmon Lodge (KSL) so that I could visit Katmai National Park and see the Alaskan wilderness. There is lots of great salmon fishing to be had, but I don't fish so that wasn't the purpose of my visit. The Lodge itself was quite nice, and the room that I had was nicely sized, with a comfortable bed. The shower had amazing water pressure and lots of hot water. I can't say enough nice things about how accommodating and friendly the staff was during my visit. The staff truly made me feel at home at the Lodge. They went out of there way multiple times to make sure that I enjoyed my stay there. Not meaning to leave anyone out, but Greg and Cory were especially great. Something that surprised me was that the internet was available way out there in the wilderness, although for a small fee. I think some rooms have TVs. I visited in early June, before the lodge was fully open for the tourist season (I missed the full opening by a couple of days). So, unfortunately, the dining room wasn't open so I couldn't experience what I believe are great meals. The staff did make sure I didn't go hungry, however, as breakfast was free and they were more than willing to drive me into the town of King Salmon for dinner. The town is very small, but the Sockeye Saloon has good food. ||They even made me a sandwich lunch when my flight was delayed and I stayed l longer than anticipated. About the only less-than-positive thing I have to say about KSL was that I tried to make this booking in late April/early May, and communications via email or phone were not that easy...it got a bit frustrating. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend the KSL, and I would stay there again if I...

Our family of four (2A/2C - 8&11) had an amazing stay at the King Salmon Lodge! We stayed for three days in advance of a southbound cruise from Anchorage and could not have been happier. Every single person that we interacted with was incredible.||We were met at the airport upon arrival, had a great dinner, and Jordan (absolute star) walked us through our itinerary for the next few days (all organized with the lodge in advance). We took Branch River Air to Katmai on the first day (amazing) and the logistics were perfect, the lodge organizes very well with the local service companies.||On the second day we did a half-day fishing/sightseeing excursion with Curt and caught some sockeye, it was awesome! Curt made it super manageable and fun for the kids, very informative and they could break whenever they wanted. They even froze and boxed up our salmon for the flight home (unfortunately UPS dropped the ball and delayed the box en-route so no salmon for us back in NY!).||The accommodations are lodge accommodations but very comfortable, food is great, drinks flow well and Jordan does a great job working the bar too! Hyrum is great and has built a great staff - credit to the cooking (kitchen team was amazing and accommodated our gluten and dairy allergies) and wait staff as well!||Overall, a no regret Alaskan experience, we couldn’t be happier.||Tip: Be sure to wait and take Bear School, even if you’re the first float plane into Katmai - we came across our first bear 5 minutes...
