First … Lulu is extremely kind and interesting, so if you are looking for someone who loves Alaska and sharing tour advice…book at least one night at the start of your trip for free tour guide assistance.
The Army Duck canvas tents are sourced through a women owned company that manufactures in Vermont and Utah. They are stand up entry (for me at least), over two hundred square feet and beautifully appointed.
Most tents include a queen bed, seating for two. Also fire starter, battery operated candles, propane heaters and even bug spray, sunscreen are in the tents. Lulu’s place is conveniently off the road but that does mean a little road noise, so she also includes earplugs and very thoughtfully eyemasks for the long nights of summer sun.
Each tent has a solo stove and firewood is available for purchase. You can even ask about renting a couple spots on site available to campers and rv’s (though there isn’t a traditional hook up so keep that in mind).
There are nearby porta potties, hand pump sinks and one outdoor shower. But Alaska is known for its shower/laundromat facilities so those aren’t far if needed. About a ten minute drive from here there is a small mercantile called The Green Store for some groceries. Larger stores aren’t too much further, including Bushes & Bunches (which features many local farmers).
A wonderful place to connect to nature without having to hike in and a great location to call home when enjoying all this area...

Read morePerfect little getaway close to town! I hosted an overnight Date Night/Photoshoot event at Lulu’s last fall and it was AMAZING! Her tents are decked out with comfortable beds and bedding and a box of essentials like bug spray and other msc. items. There was a buddy heater for cold nights too. They’re also decorated all cute and different from each other!
The property itself is spacious, enough room between tents that you don’t feel like you’re listening in on your neighbors or in their space. The private solo stoves are nifty if you want to have your own little evening. There is also the main fire ring for larger group campfires. Her kitchen area was well equipped with the essentials so you can cook some meals while you are there.
The views are spectacular and waking up to fog rolling across the Knik river with the mountains in the background was perfect.
Lulu is also the sweetest host and lots of fun! Excited for more event hosted there to come!
Highly...
