Ninilchik View Campground — Hotel in Alaska

If you're looking for a campground with a view or a great place to walk then you should stay at Ninilchik View Campground.

Ninilchik View Campground isn't very large, in fact it's nearly hidden from the Sterling Highway. Finding that site with the view may be difficult. The road and sites will accommodate large RVs, but you'll need to backup and pivot a few times to make the corners.

What makes Ninilchik View Campground special are the stairs down to the beach. If the stairs didn't exist this would be a much longer walk, but honestly you would most likely drive down.

Went to Salmon Fest this year, and it is a very rustic camping, with portajohns but not enough for some sections need at least 6 per location. Long lines during peak times.

My biggest concerns was they locked the gate not allowing people to leave from midnight to 9am. This is a major safety hazard especially with the potential for serious injuries with delayed cared for hours. Pretty dusty with vehicles going by, needs to be watered down the roads and trails.

They did allow dogs which was great.

A nice rustic campground with lots of space to camp. Trail leading to the Ninilchik River, for great salmon fishing. A hidden paradise just literally off the Highway tucked into the Woods. A great place to camp, with a Friendly Camp Host, and Amazing State Park Ranger.
