Pros: beautifully maintained and updated; attentive staff; beautiful cabin!; great restaurant. In all - Amazing!
Cons: None!
We stayed for one night, after a sightseeing tour in Seward. When my husband booked our stay, he was asked if we were celebrating anything (our anniversary). The Lodge also helped him book our sightseeing tour with Major Marine Tours in Seward. When we checked in, our cabin (the Loon Cabin) had a card wishing us a happy anniversary, two little bottles of Brut sparkling wine, and four tiny cheese cakes! The cabin is decorated in "rustic style"; moose and bears and hand carved furniture. The mattress was wonderful (so much better than the ones at Alyeska! ), with feather pillows. The shower was beautiful. The Loon cabin has a tankless hot water heater - no running out of hot water! There was also a heater in the shower area (separate from the toilet space), so it was luxuriantly warm. There are ample windows to let in light and fresh air, and a little deck right on the lake. There are also blackout curtains, and they were big enough to cover the windows and overlap each other (pet peeve of mine - blackout curtains that can't overlap each other allow in enough light that I have trouble sleeping.). It is a family owned business; we met the owner and one of her adult daughters during our stay. They have put great effort in keeping their facilities scrupulously clean and updated. Breakfast was included in our stay, at the Lodge restaurant. We had eaten at the restaurant the previous evening, sharing fish and chips. Very tasty! Our breakfast the next morning was just as tasty - I got a half order of their french toast, as well as eggs over medium. The french toast was wonderful, and the eggs were just right. Summit Lake Lodge is on our list of "must visit again" places. Don't judge them on their website, as it is a...
Read moreThis family run establishment is top notch. Even before I arrived Lyndsey and Brandon helped me arrange different tours and answered endless questions. Their kindness and patience was greatly appreciated. The property is stunning with the gorgeous fish filled Summit Lake. They have paddle boards and kayaks to use free of charge. They have a lovely pavilion with a huge gas fire pit and plenty of seating right next to the lake. I stayed in both the mountain side and lake side cabins and they were beautiful, clean, and roomy. Big tiled showers and the toilet in a separate room was very well planned out. The beds are super comfortable and I loved the decor. The restaurant served the best food of our entire trip. If you rent a cabin you get a wonderful fresh made breakfast. I loved that you could get a pancake instead of home fries and toast. Lyndsey’s egg frittata was outstanding. For dinner service Chef Dwayne cooked my ribeye to perfection and the quail egg was a nice touch. The nut encrusted Halibut was to die for. I wish I didn’t live thousands of miles away or I would eat there every week. The sea plane lands right at their dock making that excursion very accessible. I can’t wait to...
Read moreThe Summit Lake Lodge was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. When we got off our cruise ship, we rented a car to explore Kenai and Denali. My only regret was not staying all 3 nights at the Summit Lake Lodge and spending so much time going up to Denali, which was expensive and I don't think was as breathtakingly beautiful as the Kenai area.
The rooms are gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated and crafted. The heated floors and well planned room layouts were comfortable. When I first walked into our historical room, I couldn't get over how good it smelled. Similar to the beautiful scent found outdoors around the property. I wish I could bottle it up.
Every single person we met was friendly and helpful at this family owned lodge. The restaurant was delicious. We wished we had more days to try more items on the menu for dinner and breakfast. And absolutely do not miss their pies.
I am extremely picky about hotels and was concerned about staying in Alaska, where perhaps they wouldn't be as comfortable as what I like on vacation. I was 100% wrong. The Summit Lake Lodge is one of the places I can't wait...
